I have a 90 integra ls 5 spd...recently i had my motor mounts snap off the block causing it to crack...i had a b18a1 engine in it, now i have to find something new...if i keep the same tranny do I have to buy the same engine or would i be able to use a b16a1 also?

Yes you can keep your same tranny, but pairing a b16 with an ls tranny is about the worst combination you can get. The b16 already has very little low-end torque and the long gears of the ls tranny make this pretty much unbearable. I definitely would not recommend doing this.

Exactly, ls trannies shift into lower rpm's rather than a tranny off an b18c or b16a which has shorter gears to keep the rpms higher because thats where their power is.

ya i second that just buy the whole complete engine, ecu tranny engine. a b16a sir II will drop right in and it only cost about 1000. ANd your old tranny is pretty much trash. all non-vtec trannys are geared for driving your kids to soccer pratice. Not for street raceing like the v-tec's trannys.
