If you don't have enough ass, it's ok. No matter what amount, it's going to get rocked hardcore. I can't believe nobody else saw this yet!

personally i thought it sucked.

a) the fight scenes were terrible. you couldn't tell who was who (especially when he was fighting the other ninjas at the beginning), and you couldn't really see anything.

b) they didn't lead up enough. 3 minutes of him being a kid, then 3 minutes of him in the chinese prison, and then Raz Al Gul shows up. not enough build up IMO.

c) his cheesy-ass "macho" voice he used when he had his batman costume on. give me a break.

d) i expected the entire movie to be a chronicle of how batman came to be. instead they devoted about 45 minutes to that, and to me it seemed kind of tacked on.

e) the villains. they were just regular bad-guys. no penguin, no joker, no riddler. nothing interesting.

f) it didn't seem enough like the comic book. when i see comic movies (Spiderman, Super-man, Fantastic Four (hopefully) etc.), i want to be reminded of the comic books. the last few batman movies were made to be sort of cartoony, and threw back to the books alot. in this one i didn't see as much of a connection, and the lack of a cartoony villain made the whole movie not seem as "fun". i guess the lack of Robin or Bat-girl didn't help either.

i did, however, like the plot of destruction, i thought that was a cool idea. but to me it didn't save the movie from being way shittier then i expected it to be.

but oh well, it's not made for everyone.

Theres no way in hell it can top the first one......... jack nicholson as the Joker, the movie was brilliant. Best comic superhero movie of all time, hands down.

Seems to follow the "prequel" trend of movies, similar to Star Wars, where someone's bulb turns on and they think "Hey, maybe we should start from the beginning, and make more money"

One actor, Michael Caine, was a good choice to cast, though.

I want to see it. I, for some reason I really don't know, love all the Batman movies. I'm with Suislide though, I think b/c of the things he mentioned it'll be a let down.

I personally thought it was pretty good. I went to be entertained and entertained I was. There is one thing that kinda strikes me as odd, but I'll wait until more people have seen it so as to not spoil anything for anyone.

I havent seen it yet, I will probably go today. From the commercials though I could already tell that it was going for a more 'realistic' approach with the different car that he has.

I loved it, sure the fight scenes were blurry, but it was still damn good, gives another view of things, it's different. The new batmobile is totally badass and sure they could of had more on how batman came to be, but for christ sake's they only hjave 2 hours or so to put everything in, I think it was enough background, I understood where he came from and all that, it was fine. Great ass movie!! 9.5/10!!

Big thumbs up from me. Before seeing the movie I had my doubts on the new batmobile cause it looked really retarded, but once you see the movie, it's in no way retarded. That machine is just flippen awesome. Also loved how the movie was much more mature and grown-up than the previous ones.

It's a far different take on the Batman series, going for the grittier style found in the cartoon series. I personally prefer this style over the ridiculous. Batman is far different than other comic book heroes, he's the Dark Knight. And I think Christopher Nolan did a fantastic job of portraying him.

Before I continue, a few minor spoilers ahead. The climax with the train scene was fucking superb. One of the better action sequences I've seen in a long time, it actually made me lean forward in my seat. Also, the hallucinogenic scenes with the gas were great. Really drew you into the film as an experience, I loved it so much.

Great film.

So you're saying the first one wasnt dark and gritty? Cause i always thought it was, and it was ALOT closer to the comic books in my opinion then what i've seen in the previews for this movie

Actually, I meant Christopher Nolan, the director, did a good job of portraying the dark world. But Bale did a decent job, too, a bit overdramatic at times though (rattle the cages).

The first one was dark, but in Tim Burton's own dark comedic way. This new one is just dark and gritty. But you're right, Tim Burton's Batman is a far more faithful adaptation. I just prefer Nolan's direction.

Batman Begins was a great flick, and a great surprise. Tim Burton's first Batman is a classic - compared to the original cheesy tv show it was dark, the tools and car were out of this world, and yes it was very consistent with the comic book roots (plus I loved Burton's spin with the old school cameras and guns). But looking back now the whole premise of Keaton becoming Batman was kind of, well, weak.

As far as character buildup I think Batman Begins has not only more Bruce Wayne buildup than the first movie but its also more plausible - fuck the comic books I'm 27 now and not the kid who went to see Burton's Batman wearing a new Joker t-shirt and wondering how much "cooler" the movie was going to be compared to the TV series. In that first Batman movie Brucey watches mum & dad get shot - then he's Batman. Why? I mean really, why? Was the Bruce Wayne in Burton's rendition depressed about being too short or possibly have some fetish with bats that made him want to go out and fight crime dressed like a bat... man?

I like how Batman Begins really goes into the whole issue of becoming more than a man, and how after all of Wayne's experiences with bats everything comes together for him in that one scene - and even then deciding to use the bat was just an afterthought! Did anyone else appreciate that? Its like the difference between one guy who is hell bent on kicking ass regardless and who takes something that bugged him from childhood and uses it because its ironic and suitable, to the other guy who wants to fight crime - but in order to do so, must become BATMAN first - hey guys, I'm Batman! :loser: Maybe in Tim Burton's Batman he specifically wanted Bruce Wayne to be short and self conscious about his image, and that’s why the fruit went out dressed up like a bat...
Who knows, anyway those hallucination scenes were freaky! I loved them. Sorry, gotta be at least 13 to see Batman Begins because this aint for kiddies.

- I really liked the first Batman (at age 12) and still like it today because it did have its moments and compared to the TV show which precedes it was breathtaking.

- Batman Returns was a thorough disappointment, maybe because the extra characters started stretching things too thin (probably had more to do with the superstars being unbelievable in their roles). Old Jacky boy was super as Joker – not because he was famous, but because he’s psycho and a good actor. Danny D as the Penguin was Michelle Pfeifer as Catwoman… I dunno.

- Have never seen the other two Batman flicks in their entirety but I’ve tried damn it, they’re just horrendous flicks. I don’t know what it is, the more the movies got to being like the comic book and having to include each and every villain Batman every faced no matter how lame-ass or far fetched, the lamer it got. Or again maybe it was the star power and the director picking actors who really couldn’t play the part or who were perhaps too recognized to be taken seriously in what were otherwise silly roles.

This is what I loved about Batman Begins – it’s fresh. No big name actor playing Batman. Morgan Freeman and Michael Cain, although recognized actors, were perfect for their roles. The premise was lets make this concept believable – keep with storyline as much as possible but don’t let the movie be ruined by including every B.S detail from the comics. If you take every detail and tradition from the comic book (which along with cartoons is a totally different realm than TV or film) and try to shove all that shit into movies or TV – you will have the first 4 Batman flicks and the stupid-ass Adam West series.

Another thing I didn’t miss about Batman Begins…

No Prince.

I liked it in Burton’s Batman – hey, it fit. I’m just glad they took a more serious approach with the new flick.

One thing I'm worried about is subsequent Batman movies getting dumber because of comic book scripture and also finding the wrong actors. After seeing Batman Begins I'm pretty sure the director (if the same) won't make the mistakes the last 3 movies made - he's obviously not worried about basing everything on the comic book. The Joker will hopefully be played up well in the next movie.

BUT HAVING SAID THIS (and believing it), I recently heard that Justin fucking Timberlake is going to play Two-Face in the next movie!! :eek7:

If that's true there go the rest of these sequels...

Batman begins is a Great film... easily one of my favourite films ever.

one thing i don't think alot of people understand is that Batman Begins is not realated to any of the other Batman films, its not a prequal, its a restart, as far as i know there is 2 more sequals planned,

personally i thought it sucked.

a) the fight scenes were terrible. you couldn't tell who was who (especially when he was fighting the other ninjas at the beginning), and you couldn't really see anything.

OK in a way i agree the fight scenes were quite caotic but the director is trying to portray what it would be like to fight Batman

b) they didn't lead up enough. 3 minutes of him being a kid, then 3 minutes of him in the chinese prison, and then Raz Al Gul shows up. not enough build up IMO.

What!!! there was loooads of lead up any more would have been too much, no other batman film has ever done a lead up like this.

c) his cheesy-ass "macho" voice he used when he had his batman costume on. give me a break.

Well there is a few people who don't like this, but you see those things that clip his cape on.. there voice changin things, that are suposed to hide his real voice. IMO it was great, not cheese at aaaaall

d) i expected the entire movie to be a chronicle of how batman came to be. instead they devoted about 45 minutes to that, and to me it seemed kind of tacked on.

It is how Batman came to be .. this is how he first saves gotham, all the events lead into each other ra's al ghul...scarecrow. I think the story fitted very well toegther.

e) the villains. they were just regular bad-guys. no penguin, no joker, no riddler. nothing interesting.

Wait .. hang on.. Ra's Al ghul?? Scarecrow??.. your not familiar with batman are you?? These are 2 Villians are just as important and famous in comics, they just never been in a film before, and they were perfect for the story line and theme of fear. And if you understood the ending, you would know who coming next.

f) it didn't seem enough like the comic book. when i see comic movies (Spiderman, Super-man, Fantastic Four (hopefully) etc.), i want to be reminded of the comic books. the last few batman movies were made to be sort of cartoony, and threw back to the books alot. in this one i didn't see as much of a connection, and the lack of a cartoony villain made the whole movie not seem as "fun". i guess the lack of Robin or Bat-girl didn't help either.

OK now i have lost faith.. you actually liked the Batman and Robin movie?? I think its quite obvious that you haven't read a batman comic, Because this MOive represented alot of what th comics stand for, and alot of the movie is taken from, Frank Millers(comic genius) Batman year one comic. and In a recent interview he said that Batman begins is the best comic movie that ha sbeen realeased, he said that the others(spiderman, fanatatic four..etc) were just not similar to the comic books.

i did, however, like the plot of destruction, i thought that was a cool idea. but to me it didn't save the movie from being way shittier then i expected it to be.
but oh well, it's not made for everyone.

yea the plot was very cool, but i sugest you whatch the movie and forget everthing you know about batman, and let the movie tell you the story, BUt this is "the batman movie.. i think the sequal will be even better.
