Bridging Subs

Would I be able to bridge two subs to get power off of one mono amp? Because the amp pushes 2500-4000 watts RMS, and the subs are 2000 watts RMS a piece. But the subs are both dual 2 ohm, and I wanna get the most power out of both of my subs. One more thing, it says ill get more power if I use 17V dc, how do I do that?

First off, 17 Volts DC is practicly impossible for a car's alternator to acheive, not to mention that kind of power output from an alternator would probably overload the battery. The 17 Volts that the amplifier company says that it'll work at it's full output is more than likely produced on a test bench. Bridging the subs all depends on the stability of the amp at a low impedance. What I'd recomend, to be on the safe side, is run each voice coil in series (positve from one voice coil going to the negative of the other) which will take each sub's impedance to around 4 ohms. Then, load them into the enclosure and run the subs parallel ( which will more or less put the overall impedance at 2 ohms). Most mono amps are stable at 2 ohms, but double check the stats on your amp to make sure.

ok first off 17 volts isnt impossible. its high likely but your altenator will fry within the week beleive me my laternator was charge at 16 volts ebcuase it was a refurbthat wasnt set right. it was toast i na week. as for find out how to birdge the subs jsut go to this web site http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp put in what you have and it will tell you what your options are wiht yoru set up. its universal so dont worry jsut becuase its the fosgate site.
