02 jetta vr6 mil light

I just got an 02 Jetta VR6 about 4 days ago and I have a light on already... the manual says MIL light. Any suggestions? I'm new to the whole foreign car thing...

As I recall, "Malfunction Indicator Lamp", basically your standard check engine light. You'll have to have it scanned with an OBD-II scan tool to know what the problem is. I would pull the postive battery cable off for an hour to cancel the code, and then see if it comes back on. That way you know if it comes on that it is a current problem, and not one that was fixed before you bought it but the mechanic forgot to cancel the code.
