I have a 1990 Chevy Cavalier. It's a V6 3.1 Multi port engine. My car wont start.... I started with changing the batery and my car wouldn't start, then I changed the fuel pump and it still wont start. I know my fuses are working I've checked those aswell... Should I change the fuel filter??? If anyone has any ideas to help me please do respond! Thanks!

Ok... When I turn the key it does make a noise like it wants to start it just wont... If I try it enough it stops making noise and just clicks. Before I changed the fuel pump it would start then immediately shut off. Now it just makes noise like it wants to turn on. Does this help at all??? Sorry if I'm not helping. Thanks for the reply

first of all...did you check if you have gas in it..your gas guage might be fukd and giving you a false reading...it shouldnt be your fuel pump if you just changed it inless whoever put it in put it in wrong...another thing is you could check the starter

I installed the fuel pump myself but they are pretty staright forward and I'm pretty sure it was done right. I have 3/4 of a tank of gas and I know b/c when I installed the fuel pump I took it out then put the gas back in when I had it installed. My starter? I got my car on the road just over a week ago and I drove it all day then I came home and turned it off went back out 2 hours later and then it wouldn't start. So would it even be good to change the fuel filter?

unless you have something really big blocking the whole fuel filter its not going to do anything...even if the filter is dirty it wont prevent fuel from getting thru

I just wen out and disconnected a fuel line then turned the key on and no fuel came out of that line. My dads best friend is a mechanic for Ford and he told me to do that... Well nothing came out of the line I disconnected... Now that's not good is it? This car is making me so mad I don't have any idea what to do! Thanks for your replies.

ya im thinking that maybe the fuel pump was installed a little tricky...or maybe something happened when you put the tank back on
