fuel filter replacement

I have read past threads and I guess the best way to do this is to pull the fuel filter fuse (is the fuse in the glove box) and start the car and let it die. Do I need to unscrew the gas cap? When the new one is on there, you turn the key to "start" until you hear the humming noise go away and then you start it up? Is this correct cause I'm gonna attempt this this weekend. Hopefully this is simple enough.

I am sure you are talking about the fuel pump fuse. That can be pulled but if you unhook the battery cable you don't need to pull the fuse. Once you replace the filter, reattach the battery cable, turn on the key on and the system should recharge. Check for leaks and start the car. The job should be complete.

which is the better method, pulling the fuse and starting the car and letting it die then unhooked battery...or unhooking battery and releasing schrader valve?

I would use the method described in the attachment that kustomkid54 provided. A little messy but easy to do.

One more question...sorry, but could you tell me where the Schrader valve is a little better?

I have a 2000 GP SE and recently changed my fuel filter. All I did was disconnect the tubing from the filter and had a drain pan available for any leaking that occurred. There was no problem changing it. I didn't have the tooks to release any pressure at the shrader valve nor did I want to drop the gas tank to disconnect the fuel pump. I had the change out done in about 10 minutes with no drips or leaks afterward.

You just disconnected the filter with wrenches and it was that easy?
