i know this subject comes every once in a while but here goes
i have been researching a twin turbo 3000gt vs a LS1 engiened car and i just cant understand how a stock vs stock they are nearly identical on the 1/4 mile track.......
in numbers a trans am seams to be vastly superior with only 3,340 pounds and is 335hp with loads of tq the more mildly numbered 3000gt has only 300-320hp and around 300tq (if i remember corectly)
is the 4wd doing all of this or are other forces at work here? has the ls1 a stronger point from rolling starts?
well anyways i wuld love to here from anyone that has raced an LS1 and tell say how you faired?

It's the AWD doing it all, LS1 walks a VR4 at higher speeds or from a roll stock vs stock...or so i've heard on here.

3kgt vr4= instant grip on the ground and all the traction thus making it faster to reach the end of the quarter mile.
trans am= back wheel right? All that torque will make the wheels spin but i dont think the person in the trans am will do that because they should have experience in how to launch that car. This car should take a while to get traction and actually spin the wheels at the right speed making it move faster during longruns.

We have AWD which helps us rape them out of the hole, but in turn, their gearing and RWD gets them back even by mid 3rd gear...and they end up passing and typically winning slightly in the 1/4. That is why every vr4 should have at least a downpipe, intake, and boost controller. :grinyes:

ya, on 3si there was a group buy for some MR gears, and if you couple that with a 5spd rear end, then that's what gives you great improvement. but that group buy via Kormex was supposedly 'the last one'.
