shifter popped out

i was driving of the line switching from 1st to second the my gears popped out now i can get it out of third gear, and the shiter is loose and won't switch out.

Sounds like one of the cables has come off either the shifter or the transmission. On the transmission end, they just pop back on, on the shifter end you have to take the console apart to get at them.
