turning over, no start intermident

Basically the car turns over, so its not a battery or alternator or starter. Its getting spark to the distributor. Air is coming into the engine. It an automatic transmission and does this always when on a slight hill. Car has a half tank of fuel. So what I did was throw the car into neutral, rolled down the hill and while rolling down the hill tried starting and it worked. My conclusion is that it's a sensor on the transmission for the release from park to reverse. When weight is on the transmission it does this. its also a little hard to move from park to reverse, a little but not to difficult. Any thoughts?

thanks

just an update. The car wouldn't start today when I was on a level surface this time. It started turning over but no start. I put the car in neutral and then immediatly it started up.... I'm thinking its a sensor or something with the transmission...any ideas it can't be to serious, just that interlock.

the neutral trick didn't work this time. Looks like bad main relay. Why do these act up in this weather?

pull a plug and see if your getting spark, so losen the pressure relief screw on fuel rail and see if your getting fuel when this problem occurs. if your getting both then it most likly its electrical. could be bad sensor. loose wire or ground.

Dude you got shafted....relay is only 50ish bucks and you could have done it yourself. Or you could have resoldered the connections on the circuit board in the relay. Thats what I did and now it drives like a dream.
