Bottom End?

hey i wondering what you could do to the gears or whatever to give your camaro more bottom end, like what type you would put in and how much work and money that would take, b/c i don't really care about goin fast at all i just want to get through the 1/4 mile in a fairly fast time or wicked fast, so if it was you what would you do to make your maro run faster on bottom end?
Mr. Luos
06-13-2005, 02:42 PM
LT1 with 4.10's. That is bottom end.
How fast you want to go in the 1/4?
Anyone else think this thread was going to be about the bottom end of a motor?

runnin the 1/4 mile faster would be havin more bottom end atleast that is what i was thinkin so that is why i named the thread that sorry for the miss leadin i didn't think neboyd would be cryin bout it! oh yeah sorry for bein a dick to you, and thanks for the info!!
Mr. Luos

1/4 mile needs both top and bottem end power.
hustler8225
06-13-2005, 02:47 PM
i want to run the 1/4 in atleast bout 13 seconds, lol that is pretty wuick for a lt1 on a 16 yr old budget i'm guessin, and before you say nething i know i over reacted to you and i'm sorry, lol i'm just new to this kinda shit and i hate it when people run their mouths even though it is on a computer i just i'm just not that mature lol
Genopsyde
06-13-2005, 02:50 PM
you could break into the 13's with just the basic intake/exhaust mods iirc. But yea, 3.73's would be ideal gears for the task as well.
Mr. Luos
06-13-2005, 02:51 PM
Run their mouths?? Who is running their mouth? Over reacting to what?
13 seconds with an LT1 car isn't bad. They are low 14 second car stock. You need to open it up intake and exhaust. Get some sticky tires, and you are in the 13's easy.

i'm an over reacter to nething if you knew me you would know what i am talkin bout i got to many enemies b/c i dunno how to shut up,lol but thats just me and i over reacted b/c you infered my name for the thread was stupid but lets drop it so my car is bone stock " i Guess" and i put a pipe( i want a borla dual catback), i want to get a k&n high flow intake, short throw shifter, and how much would 4.10's or 3.73's cost. So you guys think i would be runnin faster than 13 flat with that and some sticky tires, LORD YEAH!! and sorry for bein dick, damn i'm a real bitch i think i just realized that LOL
Mr. Luos
06-13-2005, 03:03 PM
Whoa. I didn't think I meant to say anything about the title of the thread. I just thought something different is all.
4.10's with an manual, 3.73's with an auto. Gears cost $300 or so. Install is the expensive part.

ok the car is a 6spd (if i can ever get the title for it) then i'm sellin my atv and goin to put money in it since my parents wont give me money to make it run faster and i really don't want a job. What else would you do to it beside intake, exhaust, and gears. what bout chips and shit like that anything except for superchargers b/c i'm not ready for nething like that lol i don't even have my license's yet!!

with a six speed fourth gen running an LT1, i suggest...
LT4 conversion, you should be able to afford that from the ATV sale.
3.42 gears for good all around performance. and 13's should be a no brainer.

3.42 gears for good all around performance.
I would recommend steeper gears than that. Even more for the LT1.
Use the torque it has. M6 cars can handle 4.10's EASY.
If you want to keep streetablility, go with 3.73's.
My car is a 3.42 stock. I will bump up just a touch. 3.73's. That is a year or so away yet though. Next tax season. :icon16:

Turns out we might be building at the same time hustler, only I may be waiting some more months to get the car. MUST MOW MORE LAWNS!!!! I'm going to run a search right now about this LT4 thingy, I haven't heard about that before. Anyone care to add?
89IROC&RS
06-14-2005, 12:57 AM
lol, well its not really an LT4 thingy, its a performance package that includes heads, intake, and cam. I think its supposed to be worth 405hp. No different than me putting on a set of vortec heads, Super ram intake, and custom camshaft. Just yours is in a convenient package.

Indeed that's pretty much what it is, I read up about it since I posted. But there are lots of people on LS1.com in the LT1 section that said it's not all it's cracked up to be, one person said and I quote" The LT1 loves the numbers 3-8-3, get a STROKER!" Or pretty close to that.
89IROC&RS
06-14-2005, 01:17 AM
people have their opinions. alot of people preferr cubes over efficiency and will tout the strokers before anything else. The LT1 does respond well to a stroker, but the LT4 is also extreamly well known for its power producing ability.
FireFox05
06-14-2005, 01:22 AM
Soo... combine stroker and LT4?
89IROC&RS
06-14-2005, 01:35 AM
sure why not, it would be bad ass, but youre talkin alot of power.
FireFox05
06-14-2005, 01:42 AM
True. I wouldn't have a use for that power, other than 0-60..... maybe 0-90 in some cases, depends on how long the highway ramp is :-p
89IROC&RS
06-14-2005, 01:59 AM
if your gonna play on highway ramps, leave the power alone, and invest strongly in suspension and tire upgrades.
FireFox05
06-14-2005, 09:58 AM
Well, I mostly wanted to get the flowing mods,( intake, exhaust, heads) Lloyd Elliot makes some NICE head and cam sets for a really good price.
If i remember, $1,400 for heads and cam that make 400rwhp on the LT1.

06-14-2005, 01:07 PM
how would you combine strocker with the lt4 package and how much would that cost you. i'm also goin with an suspension upgrde from year one. i heard the lt4 was about 2300 that is what i was told atleast you prolly know alittle more
FireFox05
06-14-2005, 01:13 PM
Yeah, that's about what it is. The reason you combine them is they work on separate halfs of the engine. The 383 stroker replaces pistons, rods and crank shaft, while the LT4 conversion is new cylender heads, intake and cam.
However, look in my thread under performance about the 383 vs. LT4 and you will see a link to even better heads for cheaper. The LT4 intake by itself is somewhere around $300.

oh well i will just wait and tlak to you on messenger, i'm findin out a bunch of stuff bout that stroker kit and that lt4 conversion, the stoker kit is like 1900 and the lt4 is like 2300 so that is about 4200 and how much horses do u think it will have well over 450 or 500 i think lol
FireFox05
06-14-2005, 02:43 PM
With Lloyd Elliot heads and cam alone with supporting mods you should be into the low 400's. Add the stroker to that and you have probably around 500, not counting LT4 intake and other things. Mostly, a beast. If you want more links, let me know.

it actually made me cry, i used to have a pet duck named dynamite duckey, it was horrible when he died, he was chased by a cat, who tore up his wings, then a dog ate the cat and kept chasing dynamite, and tore off one of his legs, but i was able to hit the dog with a bat, but dynamite kept going and ran into the street and was hit by a kid on a scooter, then ran over by a motorcycle, and then a car, a pickup and a tractor trailer, and to make it all the worse a steam roller came by to finish him off. thanks for bringing up such horrible memories..........*runs away crying and screaming*

I went over my Grandmothers house, and everyone was by the stream. So I went down there, and saw this duck following everyone around. This duck went EVERYWHERE we went. When we crossed the stream again, the duck wasn't big enough to cross, so my cousin took a rock, the duck walked onto it, and he carried him across, then let him down. We walk back up to the house, and everyone wanted to name the duck "lucky". Everyone started making all these plans for the poor duck, when my cousins dog comes over, bites the duck on the neck (so the ducks head is in his mouth), snaps its neck (which sends guts EVERYWHERE) and eats the damn thing. Everyone starts crying, I start laughing, and my cousin hits the dog with a metal baseball bat.
Fun times.
