... welll i was going good for about 2 months with no problem with my car until now. My WaterPump is shot. Gallons of anti-freeze comes out, so as soon i get this done the better! Is it worth changing it yourself or is it better to get it done? ??
--So far the cheapest ive got an estimate is $250- ha highest from Pepboys $350 <--they suck. For $250 is that reasonable??, b/c im not sure what is cheap. Also i really do want to learn how to change it but is there any precautions i need to know about it. Ill have some help by myside of course.

course one could do that. i would not pay $250 to have it done. Check with your local parts store or dealer and get a new pump and go ahead install it yourself. Once you got the old one off make sure to clean the block from all grease in the area where the gasket goes. Use the proper sealant and tighten the bolts to the proper specs. Be prepared to get some new hoses as well, they might crack if they are old, and it is better to replace those as well once your at it anyways.

It's a pretty straight foreward replacement. If you have medium repair skills it should be a breeze. The only real concerns are breaking thew bolts off in the block. just remember to loosen then up slowly. If they feel like they're binding up, spray them and let them soak in. This shouldn't be a problem if the water pump isn't aluminum, I can't remember. Also remember that the clutch fan will be reverse thread. It might sound like a no brainer, but I have seen many people crying because it's taken 6 hours to get the fan off to no avail. For the rest of the advise, what was mentioned before is pretty straigh foreward. Just remember to get enough sealer on the gasket to seal it but not so much that it squishes out everywhere. It would also be a good time to flush the coolant in your motor.
