Project 510(Engine,suspension, and stuff)

Hi, I'm in the market for a 510(anybody have one for sale in Colorado or California),my first one, and I want to mod it. For the engine I have been looking at the VG30ET alot. How hard will it be to install, how much money will it cost, how much power would I get. Also what pther engines would be a good choice? Then I would also like to suspension,rims,tires,brakes, and the other stuff. What are good choices and how much for everything(car and all). Somebody told me that to do this it would cost about $15,000. But anyway thanks in advance.

The 510 is a good choice or a project car. There are so many parts and upgrades available for it. The VG30 is a good engine, I think because of the width the engine is a little hard to fir in the engine bay, but its definitely possible As far as other engine choices, Youcan basically do anything from KA24 to an S2000 engine. The suspension is gonna be pretty basic. most everyone runs a 280zx brakes and shocks (changing the stock shocks with tokicos or koni's. Well lots of good stuff to put on your 510 $15000.00 is a good number but it would be very easy to spend more than that... good luck on your project

Thank You. I still havent found a 510...yet. But I'm almost 15 and I'm going to California this summer to visit my mom. She will probably help me buy one and get it back out to colorado!! I have been reading more and the KA24DE swap sound relatively easy. How hard is this swap? How much will it cost? And how much power will I get, also can this engine have a turbo put in it and still fit inside the 510 engine bay easily? With this engine will I have to change out the stock 510 coupe drivetrain,rear end and what not or will it be ok. Well thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, The KA swap is relatively simple. The cross member needs to be inverted. The engine fits quite well. The engine is relatively cheap, you can get a lot of power if you install a turbo. NA about 160hp but close to 300 turbo (internals need upgrading) You can use the stock tranny from the KA, the stock differential (R160) You will need to get a new drive shaft made. Datsun 510:
1. The car(straight,rust free) 5-7 thou
2. 280zx brakes and suspension
3. 5 point roll cage & racing seats(sparco torino's or Cobra Misano's) and harness, momo steering wheel
4. (tire/size recomendation) and 14x6.6 Watanabes or some nice 6/7 spoked white rims
5. A KA24DE Na w/ a subaru r160 LSD rear-end and stock KA 5 speed
6. With the dark shiny blue paint and bumbers/side mirrors trim and stuff chrome!!
