2000 clutch/transmisson problem?

Hey guys I have a 2000 S-10 with a 2.2 liter engine manual trans. Here is the problem, Not always but sometimes when I come to a complete stop, and start to move again in first gear, it will not go, it is almost as if it was in 5th gear or something. If I can let it roll forward or backwards far enough then it will take off fine. I always shift down so as to help prevent this problem. It seems that it mostly does it when I am stopped going uphill, but have had it happen on flat surfaces. I have found that if I cut the truck off and restart then it will take off just fine. I have taken it to the mechanic on 2 occasions and he has never been able to duplicate the problem, imagine that! The check engine light is on. So any ideas guys? Thanks in advance for the help.

It's a little unusual.
It won't be the clutch, and you'll have to pull the trany to find the problem.
Then if it isn't too hard for you to do pull the top cover, and I'd almost bet money on a bent or loose shift fork..

If you can re and re the transmission yourself you have the ability to pull the cover off and inspect the shift fork.

Shift forks can easily be bent if someone tries forcing it into gear

The syncrhos in the transmisson are wearing out, it will make it really hard to put it in 1st so try putting the tranny in 2nd while still pressing on the clutch and then try puting it in 1st, i'm baffled why these truck transmission have such shitty synchros, the kit to replace them should set you back about $200-300, also the other that could start happening in other gears you will start to grind gears while driving even though you were shifting correctly, this is the most anoying one, this is caused because, the synchros are not lining up correctly, good luck

Are you saying that your already have the truck in first gear and when your letting the clutch out it doesn't want to move? Or are you saying that you can't get it into first gear?

I already have it in first, no problem shifting into 1st it just will not take off. I seems to be getting worse. I am planning on taking it to the shop but the problem is he has not been able to figure it out. But as was mentioned above I am thinking the sycros are going out.
Thanks for all your help guys.
