alright, i live with a girl who is extremely over weight. i mean, very overweight, like rosanne. all she does is sit in the rec room and eat and watch tv. i don't care about that though, she can do what she wants.

anyway today her mum sent her a package with some new clothes in it. she went and tried them on, i went to my room to listen to a bit of Bob Dylan. so while i am calming reading and listening to my music, she bursts into my room in the new track suit she got. it's one of them shitty velvour or wateva ones. the furry ones. it is bottle green and the fucking ugliest thing i have ever seen, i don't know fashion but this thing was haggard. She proceeds to look at herself in my mirror. i continue reading my book. Then she asks, 'Ally-Kate does this tracksuit make me look fat?'. I look up and consider. I reply 'no the fact that your fat makes you look fat, the tracksuit is just ugly'. I go back to reading my book. a second later she throws a lint brush at my head. it hit, it hurt. and she storms off crying. I sit there wondering wtf i had done.

How was i in the wrong? ok maybe i could have put it in better words, but the fact is she is fat. she knows she's fat, she knows i know she's fat. why ask me a question that she already knows the answer to? was she expecting some bullshit compliment that wasn't warranted? would it have been ok if i was fat and said that? as someone who isn't am i not allowed to be honest about her weight? was what i said that bad? i have never made a comment on her weight before. i honestly don't care.

anyway she told on me. now i have a cut on my cheek, and am banned from friday movie night. So if honesty is the best policy, why then am i being punished for being honest? Why does the truth hurt... (me especially)

Fat is fat, spade is spade. You shouldn't be punished because you were truthful, even if bluntly so.

i sat my best friend down one day and told him he was fat and that i was concerned for his health. 6'2" and a 330 lbs, he was a rather large man. he has since lost 150 pounds, and works out regularly, went office space on his TV (which was an awesome time might i add) and is a poster boy for health.

It may have been for her own amusement as something which just came out and may have seemed witty on her part. Something that maybe may have slipped out as a half-accident, and she wants to justify it cause it's the TRUTH? Get out of here!!!

There are certain things about people that don't change. If your fat, chances are you can become unfat through hard work. Sometimes not. Whether or not this girl can, she has made the decision to live a certain way, and I ask you why it is fair to tease her and be cruel to her about her condition. If I could just give you an example of Gwyneth Paltrow from Shallow Hal, she had made the decision to just eat what she wanted to, to hell with her weight. Now why in this case should strangers and friends make her feel uncomfortable because of what she is.

If she was really worried about her and wanted to say something she could have done it in a more sensitive way, as peoples weight usually ARE a sensitive thing, it's not quite like saying, listen Christy those shoes look absolutely horrible you look disgusting in em. Okay, first of all I don’t really know what nationality you guys are but you do sound arrogant so I’ll just assume that most you are American. I think that in particular Americans are more critical of fat people because obesity is such a big problem there, especially recently. Being labeled the fattest nation in the world probably doesn’t do much for you, and doco’s like supersize me probably disgust you about the issue even more. (Really I don’t know what natio’s you are I’m just speculating, and if you are don’t take offence it’s supposed to be light-hearted anyway. I’m just making a point)

Hey, oldschool-muscle, I'll tell ya something. I AM 16 and I am ALSO fat, and I dont go crying if someone calls me fat I just laugh about it because its usually my friends that are practically saying the sky is blue and its funny. Now since I know im a fatass I dont go around trying on clothes and asking does this shit make me look fat, I just know the answer i'll get so why the f ask?
