How do I bleed the cooling system?

I recently fixed my coolant temperature sensor and radiator fan on my 94 Z24 3.1L...but it still overheats (it just takes longer). I believe there is an air pocket in the system somewhere, and I would like some ideas on the most effective way to bleed the system. I haven't checked my thermostat yet, but I will replace it while I am bleeding the system. Also a recommendation on a good thermostat would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...Robert

Not sure about a 94, but look for bleeder screws around the t-stat and hoses. It's a good idea to let the engine warm-up (so t-stat opens up) and grab a thick rag to cover it up while you open it, else you may burn yourself. BTW, don't tighten them down much, they're brass.

I just let the car warm upwith the coolant resevoir cap off.

The air bubbles tended to work themselves out over time, anyways. The top of the resevoir is usually the highest part of the entire coolant system so all the air tries to go there. All you should need to do is drive around for a day, check and fill the coolant, repeat for a week.
