E-Brake light staying on...

I cut a corner the other day and bumped the curb with my back wheel at about 7mph. the e-brake light came on after the wheel got bumped. How do I turn the light off? I've tried just putting the ebrake on and releasing it like normal, but no luck so far. can I reach under the car and tap something to get the cable back to full slack? The e-brake doesn't feel like its actually on at all, just the light is.
This happened to me during the winter when I slipped into the ditch going pretty slow, and it ended up just turning off by itself after a day or so, but this one's been on for a couple days now.

that light is also for your brake fluid, check that. If the fluid is fine the emergency brake switch is located on the brake lever.

no, I bumped something in the wheel when I hit the curb, because the light came on at the same instant. its not the fluid, and its not that the ebrake lever isn't getting enough travel to give thce cable slack, but I'm guessing something in the drum got tapped.

Slack is in the cable has nothing to do with the light, its done by the tilt of the lever. Sence the lever is all the way down and the light is still on and it came on when you hit something you should check the fucking fluid.

He is right, it should be 1 of those 2 problems. Or maybe your float in the brake fluid is messed (or the wires). Check a manual and you'll see this page (shifted slightly to fit as a smaller image, but all the info is there): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/CivicSpoon/brakelight.jpg

theres only two things that make the light come on. and both have been mentioned.
the sensor on the ebrake handle. which will work even if the cables are disconnected from the handle.
the float sensor in the brake master cylinder. this can get stuck down, even if the fluid is full.
the only thing i can think of is that you hit the curb, and it pinched off a brake line, causing a fluid loss. or, it pinched it off while you were braking, and its keeping the fluid from returning to the master cylinder.
or just dumb luck and one of the sensors broke at the same time that you hit the curb
