Speedo/Cluster Lighting

I noticed that one of the lights on my speedometer gauge cluster has gone out> My guess is that there are three amber/orange lights that light the cluster for night-time driving, and it appears that the far right light has gone out. The temperature gauge just barely light and the right side of the tachometer is rather dim. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some advice on how to fix this. THanks a lot.

You have a bad bulb.
To replace it you have to first remove the steering wheel. Then remove the lower left instrument panel trim (above your feet when driving). Then remove the instument trim panel (The one even and on each side of the steering wheel). Then the instrument trim plate (the one around the clear lexan). then the insrument cluster (carefully, it has large plugs on the back and not much slack in the wires). Then pull back on the locking tabs on the plugs and carefuly but forcefully pull out the plugs. On the back you will find the instrument cluster light bulbs under several covers. Don't confuse them with the other dozen or so various indicator lights (dummy lights) that twist out. The ones you want are the lights with the amber lenses.
It's not as bad as it sounds. And BMW will make your bank account cry for mamma.
I don't know your financial situation but the average guy like me won't keep a BMW long if he can't manage to learn to work on it.
I bought my first one new in 1985, drove it 16 years 415,000 miles handed it down to my 17 year old dauter who prompty totaled it.
I now have three, two 325s.
My daughter has a Z3.
For now.
We pray alot for her.
Take your time and don't force anything.
Invest in a manual I personally like the bently, but I have the haynes also).
Good luck.
