240SX lift kits?

So I know I will probably get a little crap for this, but does anyone know if there is a lift kit for a 1991 240SX. I have actually been off roading a lot and just got off a trail that was dominated by lifted trucks. I got tons of astonished looks and a bunch of thumbs. I'll tell you what, 240's are pretty damn good off roading and with about 2 more inches of ground clearance I will be having some serious fun. Just look at the bright side, I do more off roading in my car than most guys do in there lifted trucks around here and all I want is to be able to really show them up. It's fun as hell and I'm even going to start entering in some rally cross events.

Or keep the reliable car I have and do something that others aren't doing. Or maybe being like everyone else is the cool thing to do. If I had the money I would get nice truck but I don't considering I'm building a race car and restoring classic and paying for racing school. The point is that I just want about 2 extra inches of ground clearance, and then I will get some off road tires, and have a shit load of fun off roading and rally racing. Tell me, what's wrong with that.
Or should I put a cold air intake and a 3.4" exhaust on an NA car.

Put the intake and exhaust, besides, instead of coming out with these dumbass ideas, do them, if you do, people won't be so quick to call you a moron, but you won't do it, so this whole thread is pointless.

No, I'm actually going to Skip Barber racing school. But anyways, before when I said intake and 3.4" exhaust I was actually making fun of somebody. See if you can figure it out, hint he is doing an auto to manual swap. I spend lots of money and want to do this for cheap. I have searched for kits online with no luck so I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. If not I will end up getting Eibach to make me a coilover with longer springs and have a friend build the control arms. I just figured I would take a chance and see if there was an existing kit.

get coil overs, and raise the car... then lower it...
but how can u go off roading w rear independed suspension i though solid axls are better for off roading. (hope u have a cluch LSD)
and, is it a hatch, if so u need a roll cage...
anyways, i think a dirt 240 is a bad idea...just not the right car for the job... rally sure, but DIRT clipming, eeeeaahh

I know you were making fun of monooxide, it's that you make it sound like it's stupid to put an exhaust and intake on an NA car, it's not it's ganna be NA forever. And if you think that's stupid, think about what you are planning on doing....a dirt climbing 240SX...those 3 words shouldn't even be on the same page! Sell your 240 and buy a truck.

I'm not talking about hard core off roading like rock crawling and climbing mountains, just being able to hit up the trails at a faster speed. Like I said just 2 inches more of ground clearance would do it. It's a coupe though. And about the exhaust, a 3.4" exhaust on an NA car is stupid. I don't know if and when he plans on puting a turbo on, but it's not on his list of plans. I can sure think of better things to save up for than strut bars.

there can't be any lift kits that you can find easily on the market. If there was one... we'd be aware of it by now. You'll probably have to do it yourself. I wouldn't go with the raised coilover idea because that'll just get you the-most-bruised-up-ass-in-your-state award... find something more comfortable especially since your on a dirt trail.
how's does the car handle the dirt? does the good cornering carry over along with the torque?

Maybe you are the "S13wanabe" you claim to be....Ok...How is 3.4" Exhaust stupid? I still have stock headers and non-gutted cat so its not like im losing low-end torque. I like how you bash me and you let one ticket scare you. I plan on turbo in March of next year. If you read my sig a little more it says Strut bars and Coilovers....

ok so i think it's kind of sweet doing this, if for nothing else just to be different, sounds like it should be fun if u do go through with it, hopefully it works out, i mean it would have been sweet if it was a hatch so u could do the sil truck conversion, but still sounds sweet.

Wow, go easy fella. All I'm saying is, if you have the car stock, or you set it up for something other than low slung high-g turning or drifting, the car can be very capable in more areas than nitwits like you give it credit for. In fact nitwit, you probably skim up and down this board day in and day out waiting for someone to say something that doesn't appear aligned with the usual "I'm a tuner/drifter/purist, and anyone with any ideas outside of the drift-boy clique can duck my balls..." formula.
Now I know your car must have alot more going for it than spraypainted interior and an apparently decent french knife, and I honestly hope you yourself do too. I think you must take your driving seriously if you feel so strongly about weight shifting, acceleration, and all those things you ranted about earlier like a complete nerd with an opinion who happens to be out of arms reach. SO... If you happen to be a capable driver, you can make this car do damn near anything. It is super easy to drive in it's stock form, and if you put a decent driver into it, they can outperform other vehicles in the conditions they were in fact designed to excel in. Why? Because most people don't give a rats ass about HOW they drive, it's all WHAT they drive.
I see more SUV's and trucks - never a Subaru - on the sides of the road when there is 1-2 inches of snow on the ground than anything else. Why? Overconfidence. Something you MUST have an idea about.
And as a disclaimer, I will tell you all of my assertions are null and void if I stiffen my suspension, or get a differential, or both. But if you want me to prove anything, speak on up kid.
Me? I drive my 240 because I scored it real cheap and it turned out not only to be a great deal, but also the most fun car to drive I may have ever sat in. Not nearly the most powerful or the most expensive, but definitely a car that makes you think you should have paid more than you did. And especially when you discover that it does alot with very little pretense, unlike you.
And my favorite thing you said, since you did such a sweet outline of my earlier post... was the "Peer Group" comment ... Nice one that was SO cool. I always try to keep cool in front of the "Peer Group", don't you? Golly I hope so, ZX, who knows where I'd be without a "Peer Group".
Where are you from, all joking aside?

And another one for least coherent long post that most will not read. It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are in harsh conditions. In bad conditions shit happens that you cannot control, even to Mario Andretti. Rwd IS not good in harsh conditions no batter what you do to it. I don't care if you have the best suspensions setup, its still not going to be good.

Off roading is pretty fun in the 240 because on flat dirt surfaces because it slides like crazy. It is fun as hell and seems like a really good way to learn how to drift. The trail I went to was Holy Jim Trail. It's in Orange County, CA. It used to be a really easy trail like 8 years ago, which was the last time I was on it, but now it's super rocky and has some pretty cool side trails. The trail itself is a lot more trecherous than it used to be. Trust me, I'm not showing up any trucks out there, but I'm out there. I got nothing but astonished looks. The 240 really does off road pretty good. If it had a little more ground clearance and some off road tires it would keep up with anything on the trails. Still couldn't rock crawl or go up anything too crazy, but charging trails is freaking fun. I talked to a guy that races in rally cross and he says guys rent cars and enter them. He says he has seen everything out there. I don't really plan on winning, just having fun. And the guy with the coilover comment about it being to harsh, Eibach will custom make springs at whatever height and spring rate, so I think I could get something together that would be nice.

truth is there are many different classes of rally racing. Just because all you see on tv is wrc.....doesnt mean you have to have awd.
Rally is same as drifting if you ask me.....or damn near close to it. Sure there are a few different changes and setups, but its damn near the same.

sounds to me like he's drifting, but on dirt roads. And needs the extra inches for bumps and shit, cuz well mother earth aint so flat like a paved surface is.
and i think he knows what can happen if he slides of the path and what not, thats his choice and he's made it. The same goes with drifting in a parking lot or whatever, you may slide into that pole or curb or whatever. Who knows what can happen till it does.

well... other than the spring stiffness... a coilover setup would normally have metal upper pillow mounts which will send all the vibrations straight to your body frame (and your seat) as opposed to a shock and spring combo which will have a rubber damper underneath the mount. That's all i was refering to for the level of comfort, but heck it's all up to you.
I've never seen anyone use rally coilovers before... that'll be a pretty good review if you got them.
