well guys my car has now officially quit running. ( 99 eclipse , 2.0 , fwd, 73,000 miles, no mods )
came home from work last night and it was stumbling worse than ever then died next to the mail box out by the road. i pushed it up into the drive and started with the basics. fuel presure.....good, fuel filter.......good, spark.... good, but it just wont start sometimes. when it does start it barley idles, and black smoke pours out the exhaust pipe, (like its flooding) then it dies. if you try to crank it again it wont start. when you check the plugs they have black soot all over them. the plugs are new ngks and the spark plug wires are new also. during all of this the ses light never came on; so i unpluged the temp sensor just to see if it would throw a code when i tried to start it .........sure enough it did, so the bulb in the ses light is good. i used my handy lil code scaner tool and erased the code .........the only code .....the one i made it set just to see if the light was working.........and nothing.........she still wont start. :confused: :banghead: :feedback:
