need help with turn signal problem

I have a 1997 tiburon fx and was recently involved in a small fender-bender. The lady who hit my car barely tapped, at around 5mph, the right front corner of my bumper and bent it in and then her car just scraped across the front of my bumper. The only damage at all to my car was the passenger side turn signal assembly/light and the turn signals would not work after. I got a replacement for the whole assembly, put it in and the turn signals still don't work. (I should also note that all lights are working fine.) I checked both fuse boxes, under the dash and in the engine compartment and nothing looks like it is blown, is there a relay or something that might be blown elsewhere in the car?
If not any ideas what else might be wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I feel that this is a simple solution I'm overlooking that a shop would try to rip me off for a repair.

there are turn signal relays in the engine compartment box, but i dont think that is the problem.
check the wires running to the thing for cuts.
