96 overheats with a/c on

Hi Everyone. I recently bought a 96 Aurora with 110,000 on it. I have always love the Aurora and finally got one. But after replacing a bad radiator(cracked around the a/c mount) and still having cooling issues, i found thios forum. It scared the h out of me, i worried about the head gasket and bolt issue. i had it in to a olds dealer, they recharged the a/c and did a pressure leakdown test. It has the greenstuff and the leak tabs in it now. the temp would still rise up to the very hot range. i had it get hot enough to shut down the a/c so i left it off.
when i drive it now the temp is fine just below the 200 mark. i see only minor rises even at highway speeds(70 mph).
so why is it overheating with the a/c on?
Can anyone help?

Hmm cluch fan? - electric cooling fans should be on all the time when the AC is in the MAX setting and should come on at a specific temp to cool things down. Do they come on at all? Does it get too hot with AC off and just idling? You may also have an air pocket that needs perging.

Right their cooling the radiator!
Well, for the Aurora its two fans small inside the front bumper and the one (big) fan cooling the radiator. So see if the fans come on at about 180*
it may be electical...the cooling fans might have a short etc. etc.:smokin:

seem Rebel isn't talking about a Aurora Classic, The classics have two radiator fans mounted on the engine side of the radiator. There is no fan clutch it is all electric controled. There are two fan speeds, low fan speed for light cooling and Hi fan speed for when AC is on and when the engine exceeds 200 + degrees. My guess is that your Hi fan relay is not working properly. The electric diagram is complicated so you probably need to take it to a skilled GM Repair person. This system is common to many GM Cars.

Thanks, I did turn the A/C on to see if the fans came on. They did, but
I will have it checked out.
