My kingdom for an Oxygen sensor that works

O2 sensor went bad on my '01 Civic HX and I've tried Bosch O.E. and universal, neither of which worked. So now I'm thinking I have to fork out between $200 and $300 for a Denso OEM and there are none within 40 miles of me (that I can find). In the meantime my HX is now a DX, it went from 42 mpg to 35mpg. Any suggestions or brilliant advice would be welcome.

Junk yards. Might have to do a little calling around but I think if you spend a couple hours calling around you can probably find one somewhat close to you. Surely you can use an o2 sensor off another model though right?

Your idea is good, I have tried all the local junk yards. I guess I'll have to expand my search area. I'm not sure if you can use a sensor off another model, that is a good question that I will post to see if anyone knows. Thanks.
