Hey All,
About a week ago I replaced my two fron tires @ a Goodyear store. After I had them changed, I started to hear a slight humming noise, from the front of the car. As a couple days went by it got louder and louder. I just went back to the place where I got it done and they said it's probably my bearings and I need to stop driving asap. 1.) Is it the bearings that is causing this - the noise doesn't happen when I turn, so I'm guessing it's not my differential and it only gets louder when I increase my speed. (I'm staying off the freeway until its fixed). 2.) Is this something they might have messed with when they replaced my tires? I don't trust them and want to wait to Monday to have my mechanic look at it b/c I fully trust him. But, I don't want to drive anywhere for fear that the wheel will come off and I wuill get sued big time! What should I do?!?!?!?
Thanks for any advice...

P.S. -
I have a 1996 VW Jetta. I hate it. Will NEVER buy a VW again! So many probelms since the day I brought it home. Though, I suppose it doesn't help it that I drive it pretty hard. =) Should probably stop that.
Currently, has 105K, estimated.

Is it a constant humming, or more of a squeking noise? The latter would more likely be a bearing problem. Depending on what the humming soulds like, there could be a flaw with the tire.

What kind of tires? Size? are they a passenger tire or performance tire?
It sounds like bearings to me. FWD cars bearings are a little different design and when they start to go they sound like a dump truck tire; whining, growling, and they sound like knobby snow treads.

Yeh, all 4 of mine went in my Grand Am after I rolled it, and when I got up to speed they would pulsate / roar and sounded like I was flying in an airplane.

It is a constant humming noise, which increases with speed.

I took it in to the Goodyear that replaced my tires originally and they checked the tires and said they were ok, so it is probably a bearing issue. I just wanted a second opinion, b/c they seem kinda shady...
I think they are passenger tires, not performance. Not sure, though. I will check later. I'm feelin kinda lazy right now.
Thanks for all your input! Much appreciated.
