So I have a chevy lumina and just got a new system. I have a pionner Preimer deck DH-3600, Pionner Preimer speakers 2 5" in front, 2 6x9" in back. For subs I got 2 Pionner Premier TS-W3004SPL subwoofers that are 3000wattmax 1000wattRMS. To power them I have a Kicker KX850.2 Amp and the wiring is 4 gauge and Stinger Pro. The box is a huge, (4cu feet maybe), sealed and is internally divided. I am thinking about being in some local competitions. I was just wondering if I should buy a capacitor and how many farads I should get. Also my alternator is only a 100amp one and I can get it modified to a 140amp and I was just wondeirng if that will help as well.

You don't need a cap or a rewound alternator, a 100amp alt is plenty for an 850rms amp provided you have it set correctly, especially considering most competitions are done with the vehicle off where an alt wouldn't help you at all. Upgrade the magic 3, and if your battery is old or small you might consider getting a new one.

if yo uwant to get loud, do the folowing in this order
1.) Get Time on the Mic, Do a Sweep in the same conditions (car off or on) as your PSL comp and if allowed open windows or doors. Find your peak frequincy with a sine sweep.
2.) After Finding your peak frequincy build a ported enclsorue tuned a bit below it, but not too far. and as much port area as possible. if its also going to be daily make it for multiple tunings or just swap form sealed to ported for comps.
3.) Upgrade your big 3, Alternator (+) to batery (+), Alternator to ground and battery to ground with 1/0
4.) run the largest guage power wire possible, you have 4guage, if your terminals can handle larger, run larger.
5.) If you are allowed to have the car running upgrade your alternator, if not upgrade to a high CA deep cycle like Optima Blue top.
6.) if you are allowed to have the car running after you get an alternator, get an optima yellow top, or two.
7.) Tottie Brand SPL dust...lmao
7.) Upgrade your subs to some RE SX's or Incriminator Lethal Injections. which could get louder contact ngsm13...he has the most knowledge about the Lethat Injections on this form
8.) Upgrade your Amps... around 2000w RMS for the Lethat Injections and 4000w RMS for the SX's
(note* that wattage is strictly for competitions and burps, not for daily bumping, 4000w RMS on a pair of sx's for daily will fry the coils quite quickly)
