Could this be a real cobra?

Last night I was with one of my friends in his civic and there was a mustang that was revving to everyone. We finally got behind him and the bumper said gt, so he decided why not. We start talking to the guy and he asks us to follow him so we can get away from traffic. When he pulled ahead I saw the svt next to his left taillight, and then noticed the cobra on the side. We both were like, "Great, here we go to get our ass handed to us." They went once from a stop and we got beat by 2 cars. Then they went 3 times from a roll. We won two of them, and we couldn't believe it. Twice we got the jump and held him at the door. We talked to him later and he said he got hit and he couldn't find a cobra rear bumper. He had the front bumper, hood, wheels, and all the right markings. Does a cobra have a horse in the grill? He said it was not running real strong, and he wasn't a great driver. I still think a real cobra would have raped us. Is there anyway a 90 civic hatch with a full si-r swap, a skunk 2 intake manifold, a weapon R cold air, and an apex-i cat back beat a cobra with headers, true duels, cold air, and a chip. I am not sure about the cobra mods, he wouldn't pop the hood. Help me figure this out, I am still shocked. I think it was just a poser gt. Oh it was a 94 mustang ???

What year was the mustang...was in an early to mid late 90's car?
If so it could have been a real Cobra running on a tired 100,000+ miles motor. If it was a newer car then it was fake as a pair of Oakly's bought in Mexico.

I believe the cobras have a snake in the front and no horse, not sure though.

i dont know much about the si-r swap. How much hp does that motor have stock with a straight swap?
The 94 cobra had 240 hp stock but judging by those mods hes probably at 270+ hp. Sounds to me like it was a GT.

Cobras have a horse on the grill stock, a 94 -95 cobra was a pretty quick car. 240 was supposedly underated and I have heard as high as 280, no proof of this though. My friend has a 94 with 373s and full exhaust. It runs a 13.5. Also the bumper on the 94 cobras only says mustang, it won't say cobra or GT. It could have been anything really, if it was a cobra though I doubt it would be running very well, good fight in any case.

Just be happy it wasn't one of the ultra rare Ford Mustang GT-R, with a Turbo intercooler rotary V8.
I think it may have been a tired ass engine, or just a GT poser. Right now, with the mid 90s GTs, Im 3-2 (1 kill from a roll, two froma dig, and 2 deaths from a dig). I think from your story, and the way the guy was acting, though, it was a poser. Domestic rice.

Haha, Mischief.
Anyway, Beast, did you hear a loud whine as the car was revving or did it sound all motor.

no way it was a corba for one. i am pretty sure a cobra has either corba or mustang writtin on the back bumber. i know many kids that put cobra badges on there v6 and gt cars damn posers! and if it was a corba why would the guy say tru duels unless u said that but a cobra nad gt come with duel exhaust. 94 cobras said cobra on the bumber

The si-r swap is 160 hp stock. I didn't hear a whine, but its exhaust was very loud. He told me he had an offroad h-pipe, and I just said duel exhaust. He said the rear bumper said mustang gt because he was in a wreak and found that one for cheep.

I think, but I'm not sure, most Cobras come with their own set of rims, spoiler, and hood.
Also, if you've got the chance check in the cabin. There should be Cobra seats, gages, and other little things in there with SVT badges on them.
From your story though I'm thinking it was a GT Cobra poser.

Actually the 94 didn't say Cobra on the bumper, it only said mustang. I can gaurantee that. The 96-98 didsay cobra, and possibly the 95 but even that I am almost certain only said mustang. It however did not say GT. Everything else though you are right about. A more sure way to check for a real cobra is to look at the steering wheel. If it says mustang , its not a cobra. All years from 94-04 actually said cobra on the steering wheel. I am not positive on the 93. I haven't seen this part swaped yet. Also another give away is the lights, on the 94-98 only the cobra had clear headlights the GT and V6 had a corrugated look to them and tend to yellow faster.

If it was a 94 or a 95 it would have had a breaklight on the spoiler too.

Thats also correct, not to mention the easiest way to tell if its a 94/95 rather than a 96+ is if the tail lights are horizontal rather than vertical. That is if you can't tell the difference in sound of the 302 over the 4.6
