OK I recently purchased an 02 honda accord SE .My keyless entry works panic works, all the switches (trunk doors) seem to work, only thing I disconnected the hood switch thinking it might be bad. The alarm has not worked since I bought the car. A story behind the car is it was a lease vehicle. the previous owner(leasee) did put an aftermarket stereo in it (also blew out the dashlights when they do this by cutting the wires, so I had to replace the drivers side multiplex)They put the original stereo/cd/tape deck back in it before returning the car. anyone had this problem with the alarm( it does not blink the lights upon locking the doors or beep the horn to confirm, also the light next to the drivers lock knob for security does not flash, and I have sat in the car with it locked and opened it and no alarm sounded. it does flash the lights when you unlock it.) also has anybody heard of the way to check the multiplex codes to see if it is the problem ? and how do I do that?
thanks in advance for your help

I'd try checking the security fuse first. Given what you've said, it's possible that it got blown.

where would the fuse be? I was told that there is no seperate box for the factory alarm and That the alarm is controled through the multiplex network.is this true on the SE models with the factory oem alarm? I have checked all the fuses inside the fuse panel 's

Did you visualy inspect the fuses, or use a multi meter to check them? You can't always see if a fuse is blown visually, so I'd rely on using a multi meter to test each fuse. There's a fuse box on the driver's side, one on the passanger's side, and one under the hood at the main power center. And, yes, partly....some of the alarm's systems are multiplexed, but there's still a brain that needs to receive the signal from the remote. I'd double check your fuses and take it from there.

yeah I did use a multimeter though. cause it is hard to tell with these small fuses. I used continuity feature.

Hmm....it's possible, then, that the previous owner "grounded out" the factory security system to disable it. It's a hard one to trouble shoot over the computer, so I recomend taking it to a reputable install shop and have them check it out. It could be that the previous owner cut more than just the park lights. Hopefully not, but a trained tech should be able to figure that out relatively quickly.

ok
well in another post I was told that the door lock cylanders are fragile and may break. I do know that the alarm looks for 10 volts on all switches. But the thing that gets me is that everything seems to be ok.Minus out the fact that I have read on numerous sites that the people who had aftermarket stereos put in these cars did end up haveing the same problem with the drivers multiplex unit. On the other hand most of these people would not realize about the alarm because most of them probibly had an aftermarket alarm put in. But my fear is this: one: when the aftermarket stereo was put in previously that A: they did not use the dimmer wire and B: they left the security wire that goes into the stereo loose not connecting it either. two: this has caused a failure in the passengers multiplex where this wire goes from the stereo. I was told there is a way for the DIY'ers to get codes from the multiplex network and that may lead me in the right direction. But the only thing I know is that the codes are somehow displayed through the light around the ignition. But I can not find any other info on how to do this. And of course honda likes to keep things top secret with the newer vehicles .
Any idea how to get these codes ?

Maybe pick up a Chilton's Auto repair guide. I picked up one for my 93 Camry, and it told me how to read the trouble codes. Otherwise, you'll need to take it into a shop and they can plug a computer into it and read the codes for you. Some auto parts stores will do that for free. You'll just have to call around. I've never seen an 02 Accord that has the security tied in with the radio. The only Honda that ever did that happy stuff was the 98 Civic, though it's possible that something in the wiring got toasted. Without having the car around to meter myself, it's going to be really hard to figure out exactly where the problem is.
