Im planning on purchasing a 1998/1999 Mitusbishi Eclipse very soon. I have put together a page of items i would like to purchase for my car. If youde like to visit it its: www.cardomain.com/id/xx_Eclipsekid_Xx . I have been working on my engine page and i know that a clutch would be a huge upgrade that would benefit me greatly once i get my car. There is a problem...I know nothing about clutchs. If someone...anyone knows anything about clutchs please give me a hit and let me know what i need to look into...
Thanx Great,

What do you want to know? By the way heres your real link here (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/563281/1) A clutch isnt always a necessary upgrade unless your looking for a bunch over stock horsepower. Act is good and so is Exedy. I have the OEM exedy in mine and Im happy :smokin: I was looking at some of your "plans" and was curious as of where you were going to get enough :2cents: to pay for all that, lol. Just saying...if you are on a budget like most of us you should be expecting 1/4 of those upgrades. Worry about making the car run good before looking fast first:)

ACT is the most common, 2100 and 2600 pound. Do some research before you throw together a list.

Ok, well with me being new to AF, i ended up responding to my own post...OOpps. Well First off thanx for lookin at my site and for the correction. Everything on the page is what i would like to have, im sure that i wont come up with half of that but its a dream. With me starting up a little younger i hope that the extra time will come threw in my favor. What it is exactly i would like to know is, what it is i need to look into. When i started lookin around for them i see different disks, some quoted "racing" disks, recognise flywheels but iunno what it does lol. SO basically i would just like a lil background on what it is i need to start looking into. I see different pound ones also. I would kust like a lil kick in the right direction and feel comfortable with what i am reading when looking into clutchs. THanks alot hope for a lil insight. *~~*Eclipsekid*~~*

Well what are you trying to find out? I mean you have the idea of what power you are looking for and how it all works so that will help you decide what clutch to pick up. But why clutches though? When first starting to mod your eclipse you usally dont just go in an pop in a new clutch. Is there a particular reason why clutches? Jst wait until it goes out and then worry bout it

My advice would be to google "clutch" and look through some of the sites and find one that explains all about clutches. Then, come in here and post a question you have about a certain clutch, or something like that. That way we know how to help you. It's hard to respond so such an open question. We don't know exacly what you are looking to know.

Ok everyone, everyone seems to come to a concencise on the terms of getting a clutch only when the current one slips...Well noted and taken. I will do jsut that. So say my clutch just went out and i want a new ACT. What ACT combination should i look into, as in flywheels, disks, lbs and what not?

Well it all depends on what type of power you are going to be throwing at it. Know this: a clutch can only take a certain amount of power until it starts to slip so choose your clutch by your power. Like for say my car is prolly close to stock hrspwr(round 250 area) so I dont really need an ACT racing clutch and even if I was to obtain 350 or so hrspwr I would still be good. But now if you plan on racing everyday an ACT 2400 or w/e would do you good.

ok since i know my car will not be putting out 350 horses by the time it starts to slip, a 2400 will do? Well were getting somewhere then. Ok so we have a 2400 clutch, is that a set that comes with what i need or is it a mix and match situation sayin ok this will go and this too. B/c im seein different disks and flywheels, like i said. So i am/ and always have been, under the assumtion its a mix and match....
