"NE" is NOT how you spell "ANY!"

WTF is up with these dumbasses on the internet who think dropping ONE fucking letter from a word is going to save them a lot of time in typing. "Any" is spelled with three letters. "NE" only takes two. If you actually know how to type and actually passed your typing class in high school, dropping one letter only saves you less than a fraction of a second of typing. "WTF, LOL, LMAO, OMG" and abbreviations like that don't bother me. Those letters ACTUALLY stand for the words they are meant for. But "NE" doesn't stand for anything, except for "NorthEast." If you say the letter N and E together, it does sound like "ANY." Sort of. But actually. It's more like "En Ee" "Any" is more like "In Ee." So shit like "NE1 want 2 ch@ w/ me?" just looks stupid. LEARN how to FUCKIN' type and go back to English class, damnit!

I have been saying that since 1999. I tell people on msn who do that to "stop it, or stop talking to me", nither happen *block* (incoming e-mail) "y did u blok me?" Think it over, mate.
Ironically, a few of these people develop these habits of "1337" spelling, and actually start adopting it as part of their vocabulary, the end result is them spelling like they do on the internet in exams, and class when they are required to actually "spell" words, not use short-hand 10 year old abbreviation of non-existant words. I have known of a few cases at might highschool of this happening, one of them in my year 12 class (that was 2003), and more recently in my brothers year 11 class (english) just last month.
That's why they made English a compulsary subject in New South Whales schools up the last year of highschool.

I have to admit that I failed a few of my High School English classes and had to redo them. But I mostly failed because of laziness. But spelling is nothing. If I come acrossed a word that I'm not sure of, that's when I look in the dictionary. This "leet" shit is a really bad habit to get into.

Eh? What kind of accent do you have, 'any' and 'ne' sound the same when coming off my tongue.

Well not to rain on any (or ne) ones parade, but while its not really accepted and looks quite immature, its not uncommon to see post like this on numerous boards. Now, AF refrains from such posts, the rules are somewhat not enforced in the COT forums and or overlooked, so long as its not a ongoing thing. But over in the other (technical) sections, you can be guaranteed that the member will be warned and if it continues, will be banned for posting such useless messages in threads. usually we give a break to foreign members whos primary language is not english, but regardless, I have never seen a foreign based member write like that. So there should be no excuses.
With that said..
please refrain from posting your responses in short (1337) spelled out words and make your replies using the actual spelling (proper english and grammer) of the words. If not, action can and probably will be taken.
Don't come back whining and complaining why my post was deleted or why was I banned.

Very well, [substitute for ok], understandable, or understood. But didn't you catch the facetiousness of some replies? By the way [substitute for btw], it's grammar with an "A". Lower case.
Now I gonna get spanked, laughing out loud, substitute for LOL. But seriously, this was just one of those non-sensical threads, with no real import.

Seriously, there is no need to go overboard. There are already established short versions of these words that are used like "lol, btw", etc. what I am referring to are complete sentences written in that style. A mispelled word is understandable, everyone mispells every once in a while (me included as you pointed out in my previous post), but its whole sentences/posts that make no sense written in that style.

just fussing with ya, TS, but I agree that to do a whole sentence in "net shorthand" is somewhat irritating. Not to mention, rather crude and lacking the ability to elucidate appropriately within the language framework learned [hopefully] in school.
What really gets me is the younger folks who I have actually [SERIOUSLY] overheard talking to each other in public in "net'. I was absolutely stunned, one girl said LOL to the guy, who responded with BTW in the actual letters themselves!!!!!!!!!
There's a few new Mickey D candidates for ya. Sad state of affairs, sigh.

OK, so I'm late to the thread, but NE stands for any of the following (and some others I'm sure):
New England
North East
The first half of "Never East Shredded Wheat" (anyone know what that's for?)
NYSE symbol for Noble Corp
Nebraska
and NOT the word "any".

Not a clue... I WOULD say it's for something like... directions or something, but see EAST is already in there... so I'm not sure just exactly WHAT it stands for. I mean you can't have an analogy that has part of THE things it's analogizing (dammit, it's a word)... so I'm stumped? What is it? Or maybe those 'S's just tend to slip right in there... ?

Bottom line is people need to learn to type so that others will understand them. I've seen some kids at school type papers (for a grade!!) and put those slang terms in them. The whole world has gone to hell thanks to the Internet. If you can't type the entire word or sentence, then don't do it at all.
