whatsup guys (and girls) I just want to let you know that I signed up yesterday. I'm at a point were I don't want to be left behind anymore. Of course my parents tried to talk me out of it but Iknow what I want to do. No, I wasn't sucked in or anything. It feels natural. Besides normal jitters. I'm ok about it. Theres no recruit training yet but I want to leave a soon as I can. (less time to change my mind.) Nobody wants to see there child leave like that because of the stress from worrying. Don't worry I'll be ok. I'll surriunded by people who want to protect me and I do the same for them (and you guys) When that time comes, I'll let you know. Until then, it will be nice to post funny threads with you guys.

Drew.

Another friend of mine is in the Navy. He's a medic or something, I don't really remember. Best of luck. Don't second guess your decision. I've thought of joining the armed forces plenty of times, but they don't want me and my brother (a marine) won't let me...best wishes!

[gay voice] OooooooOOoo, look at the cute sailor boy! [/gay voice]

Think about all the girls youll meet over seas. Almost every girl likes a man in uniform, although some girls dont like semen.

Im gonna quit trying to make stupid jokes now, good luck with it and hope everything works out well for ya, keep us up to date man.

While in the Army my MOS was 72G, cosy little job within the bunkers sending TS messages. Only problem is when I went to Germany there were too many and instead of being in the cosy bunker they temorarily assigned me to 72E which is outside in the field, :banghead: Oh well I still liked it.
I think serving is a great thing to do. I would have love it in the Navy probably more than the Army, but I can't swim.

Thanks guys! I feel alot better after reading the replies.

I'm back and I passed the exam(s) and everything. I still don't have any orders yet. I haven't found a program yet. Oh and the Marines jokes? How do you guys enjoy taking orders for the Navy? Arny guys? If any plane flies or ship sails over/past you,(I doubt that will never happen) they had to go through us first Air Force? 98% of you will never fly a plane.

Hah! J/p. We all have our respect branches. And when they join, it is a great force!

Drew, best of fortunes with it. My brother is in the Navy, in EOD - or Explosives Ordinance Disposal. He recommends it as the best job. Part SEAL, part Diver, not much sea duty, and no BS job like chipping paint for 16 hours a day. If you have the scores, check it out.

Knifeblade
06-13-2005, 01:49 PM
Best to you, drew, it will be a bit hard at first, but gets easier as ya go. I do suggest if you go sea-duty, which I am 99.99% sure you will, stay out of the carriers at first if you can. Go with a destroyer or supply ship, but of course that will all depend on the MOS you become, as others have queried you about.

And don't take offense to being called a squid, but you are, so get a Marine buddy [those guys are serious dudes].

Off we go into the wild blue yonder, flying high into the skies. Etc. Etc.

Seriously, thumbs up to you, drew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ret. Capt. USAF.

Good luck brother!! I think you will enjoy the experiences. If you don't like it, it is only four years and the experience you will gain will be invaluable. Take every advantage the Navy will give you and you will be succesful. What rate are you going to be?? Any questions, just ask.

Nothing wrong with joining the air force....................besides the fact that you probably won't get the job you want....if any.

Sea sick? maybe. Who knows? Can't try to be a seal that way.

I like the water.

Welcome to the Navy. Your first set of orders will be to bootcamp in Chicago. Bootcamp is a joke. I remember watching Full Metal Jacket and expecting bootcamp to be exactly like that. Its not. More like a mind fuck than anything else. It just sucks being restricted for 3 months, or so. After bootcamp your off to A school. Just remember these words, choose your rate, choose your fate. Rate being the job that you take.

Looks like you'll be taking my spot as I seperate this October. Oh yeah, ship life blows. Try to go to a shore command. Oh yeah, every navy recruit wants to be a Seal but 99% never make it. Good luck with that. Don't be naive.

Yes that is what I meant. Battlestations? HA Ha....

ship life can kiss my ass. Not really. I dont want to be in the middle east where the fucking air feels like a DAMN sauna(sp) I won't mind tho. Those big ass carriers and subs give me the chills cause they are soooo big. But its cool tho.
Ironicly some body stole the battleship game from the lounge...cheaters.
