I just did a r134 retro ( have done on other cars). The system has the correct amount 134 per gauge. When the engine is at idle, the compressor is on for about 20-30 sec(maybe longer), then off for about 10 sec. When i hit the gas, it kicks in and out about every 3 secs. I have checked other threads and I haven't had any luck! Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you're still low on pressure.

I used three cans of 134/oil/sealer combo!!! It does blow cold, not ice cold air. As I mentioned the gauge does show the coorect amount of charge. If I add some more will I cause any damage. Should I try some 134 by itself? Would the amount of oil left in the system plus the oil/sealer in each can take up too much space? I guess that would change the pressure wouldn't it? Is there any component that would cause the problem?

I just had my compresser replaced yesterday. They drained the system and oiled the new compresser on the left side valve. Then the tech told me it held just shy of three can's so you could have too much in it. Watch it don't blow the seals on the compresser.

Crap, I sure hope that is not the case!! Could there be a problem with the pressure switch? I wonder what size cans of 134a were? Was it r134a or did they use r12?

Also
They have a die in the gas now days so they put a lite on it and wear glasse's to see where the leak is. So if it is in your system they can see it. got it?

You probably didn't loose very much oil when you did the retro. Therefore, you may have too much oil and not enough freon. The symptoms you stated are typical of low freon.
Put a jumper across the terminals of the pressure switch, (don’t leave it there very long) and see if the symptoms go away. As a general rule, when the pressure switch goes bad, the compressor won’t run at all.
The only way to get excessive oil out of the compressor is to take it off the engine and dump it out.
