Hey guys i searched and found nothing on this, will an evo III exhaust manifold fit with my small 16g turbo? The manifold is on sale this week so i convinced my self to buy it but before i follow through i that i want to know if itll fit on my car. Lemme know as soon as possible. Thanks

yeah, it will. you might require an install kit, i think the evo3's are like the 2g's. i'll let somone else q in on that one..

It'll fit. The 1g, 2g and evo manifolds all bolt up to both generations. And, small/big/evo 16gs bolt up to each of the manifolds.
On a 16g you don't need an evo manifold. A cheap ass 2g ported would work great. Good luck, hope you get a good deal.
Edit>> If I remember right, the evo manifold has to be ground down a bit to fit a 1g, fyi

ok well i bought the evo III, but u say i have to grind it down a little bit? Thats not gonna be fun, but ok. I also bought a new gasket too because they recommended it. How much performance difference will i get when i put this new exhaust manifold on? Any estimates?

The idea of the manifold is to increase flow to the turbo and expell exhaust with less restriction. The 1g manifold is pretty small, so there will be a gain. The Evo is probably overkill for the small 16g, though. Putting a number to it is arbitrary. Full exhaust, for example, nets you 15hp on a mildly modded car. I'd say no more than 5hp. That's only a guess.
You'll see when you line it up with the exhaust side that the flange doesn't quite fit. It should be self explanitory, and not much griding is required. While you have the grinder you could port out everything in the area :) With the exhaust manifold off, the turbo is nearby.
The gasket is a good idea. Without it you might have an exhaust leak before the turbo. You'll kill brain cells, leave a little soot around the engine bay, leak bad stuff into the environment, and have different spool characteristics. Afterall, the gas that leaks out is what should be spooling you up.
Taking the manifold off isn't fun. If you plan on getting that manifold in a week or so, now is a perfect time to prep for the job. Go get some PB Blaster and start soaking up the bolts. Those are easy to bust, and that would be bad. Good luck and have fun.

What you pay for the evoIII mani and where did you get it?

SBR has one, and I'm sure you can use the DSMtuners parts list to get other vendors.

i got my manifold for dsmparts.com. Its on sale this week, i think i got it for 200 bucks. Once i get this im gonna need some explaining on what i need to grind, cause i want this stuff to work, and work very well

www.vfaq.com has a porting guide that discusses porting the 2g manifold. And many vendor sites mention and show pics of what they do for porting. The rest you can figure out just by looking at the parts and the gaskets. On a 16g or smaller turbo though, it is quite unlikely that there will be any measureable gains from pre turbo porting. Exhaust flow is relatively low. And some poeple are now prefering to keep the "ring" in the manifold/turbine housing, since it does a great job of preventing blown out gaskets, which then can result in a warped manifold flange. If you dont use that ring, you have no choice but to remove the step and blend it in to prevent a ton of turbulence right before the turbine wheel. On the runner side I would do very little work. Just some cleanup. Sometimes I will take it out the gasket and blend it in an inch or so for anti-reversion, but there is no proof that it helps. No measurable gains.

so where is it exactly i have to grind down the evo III manifold?

Wait until you try and attach the manifold and it'll be apparent :) You only have to grind it down up until the point that it'll fit. The power steering will be in the way, and that corner will require a little adjustment. Look down in your engine bay and you'll be able to figure out where the problem will be.
