Yeah I agree with ya there...wtf they do that for?

I dont mind the new grill all that much, at least its unique and not derivative. The headlights on the other hand sort of remind me of the saturn ion redline, which is not a car that i would care to imitate.

I read that the grill is going to be on every Subaru. It's different, that's for sure.

Unique? The only reason I dont like it is b/c it looks like every other grill, they've conformed. Looks a lot like the new lancer front grill...

whoa.... and there we thought they couldn't make it any uglier....

Don't know yet. Not a fan yet, but I could end up liking it in the future.

Yeah, I think the grill is a but weird looking but I do admire subaru's attempt at whatever it was they were attempting with the slanted headlights up front, its O.K. They should make an Sti 2 door.

First thing I thought of when I saw that grill was a Daewoo. Anyone else think it is similar?

Well it's definitely fuglier than the previous gen, but i'm sure it's got it's advantages as to why they did that. I agree w/ the need for a 2 door STI, i'd go buy one if they had that.

Are there any Subaru historians here that know the reason why they dont make the wrx and sti in a two door? To my knowledge even the older generations wrx's at the time when then made a two door impreza, were still all four doors. Two doors seems like it would be the obvious choice for a sporty car. Anyone know the answer? Its always sort of bugged me.

There are a ton of STi coupes, the 22B was a Coupe, otherwise Coupes were known as "STi Type R's".

No kidding.

Whats with all these new cars looking like shit?? First the Eclipse, Jetta, Charger R/T, and now Impreza. I'm beginning to like older cars more and more...

I would think that the wrx is four doors so that subaru can sell larger numbers of them. The market for 2 door cars is pretty limited. Around here wrx's are like civics in the numbers department.

I could see where you are coming from but if they offered both versions, which I'm sure they would, I could see it selling fairly well. I mean look at the 350z and G35 right now, they're selling really well, even with the 350 not having a back seat whatsoever. I mean it would be a force to be reckoned with, perhaps to combat, somewhat, the highly anticipated Infiniti GTR coming out- let alone the current cars available. I don't know, but I think it would be sweet as long as they did something about the Subaru's new front bumper...

the 350Z/G35 isn't the best example, them not being the same car and all that....

Actually the reason why they went with a four door WRX later on is because they actually found out it weighed less with four smaller doors rather than two larger ones and it was cheaper since it required striping one or I should say two less beams from the chassis to fit the larger door.

As for the nose job there. It is really not the face of the new Impreza or WRX as much as it is a show-car where the grill will be sold as dealer instalation, its simply a servey from Subaru to see if people woul like that grill. If they don't then it is back to the drawing board I guess.

I can understand that, being that the 350/G35 and Impreza were built with completely different purposes in mind...Just drawing the illustration that there is a large market for 2 dr. vehicles even though they are sometimes impractical...

That sounds interesting, and if thats the case, I see why they opted for the 4 instead of 2 doors

Is that really the new design????? Subaru f***ed up w/ the 2001-2003 WRX/Imprezas, but now w/ the new ones, they had a good design.

Why the hell would they kill such a nice car????

i meant that the G35 and the 350Z are not the same car.
they might use the same chassis base format (don't they?)and the same engine (i think.... i'm not too up to date on american market cars) but they're not really the same.

the 350Z sells well even though it doesn't have a back seat is because of that; it is a 2 seater sports coupe.
people after a sports coupe isn't going to be looking for a four door saloon.
sales of a 350Z have little to no relationship or relevance to sales of the G35.

I'd rather have the G35.....my :2cents:

I did not mean in any way that the sales of the 350Z and the G35 were interdependent, or that they where the exact same car, only that they share certain aspects with one another and are made by the same company and are. Just naming 2 popular cars out here in Cali and the potential of 2 dr cars to sell well. If I named any other cars you could have came back with the same question begging argument, totally missing my point. But whatever its not that important. I like the 350Z but also looked into the Subaru also, so just because someone likes a 2dr car or 2 seater does not mean that they will not also look into other options first, like the practicality found with four door cars.

i am not looking for an argument.
i am simply pointing out that using a 350Z and a G35 as a comparison for an impreza with either 2 or 4 doors isn't quite fitting.

I've always thought there were two main reasons that the 2002+ Imprezas were not offered as two-doors. One, to uphold Subaru's reputation of superb practicality and safety, two things that go hand-in-hand with "four-door sedan" in most people's minds; and two, because Subaru has always marched to the beat of a different drummer, and offering a 300-horsepower engine in an economy car, a four-door economy car no less, is outrageously right in line with Subaru's profile. I guess a distant third would be because coupe sales are not nearly as strong as sedan sales, but that's not as important in the case of a sporty car.

Cool... point taken.

Yeah the 2dr. is just a preference of my own and seeing as I don't own any portion big or small of Subaru, I doubt that they would actually make one any time soon- just a thought/opinion.

I agree the older model is a bit better. Don't like the rear lights too much, the whole clear euro whatever look that people are still overdoing. I still like the year with the circle headlights up front.

the front end is almost..............confusing..like it's a big mix of a bunch of cars...and the rear "euro" lights is a little too high school for me...and i'm in high school...

Headlights are mean as hell...
The grill just looks like the R1 and R2... Which is just ok...don't screw the B4 by putting them on...PLEASE!

I actually like the '01-'03 models better than the '04 versions. That's why I have one!

Anyway, I dislike the latest version that we're all talking about.

hmm, i think i'm going to have amend my initial comment.
those photos aren't the best as the camera lens' angle is distorting the front of the car. i've seen pics without the distortion and it doesn't look that bad.

Daewoo? i was thinking more on the optomistic side...like alfa romeo, or the ford falcon even.
