Engine Stamp Decoding

I just bought a small block chevy motor and I was trying to decipher the engine stamp & casting. The engine stamp doesn't match up to any of the numbers on the web sites I found. The casting number does make sense 3970010 = 350cid 1969-1979

The motor is supposedly out of a 74-76 camaro.

Here is the stamp from the pad in front of the passenger side head: VC1998CO
