1994 Z28?

I was looking through an Auto Mart resently and saw a '94 Z28 in there. It's red with alloy wheels. The add says less than nothing about it, so from here on is guessing. I'm going to say it's automatic, because they SHOULD have said it was manual if it was. Also, if it didn't have T-tops would the roof be body colored? Because this one has black roof, no mention of T-tops and the picture is too small to see. Looks like it though.
So anyways, on to the most in portant part, it's $6,990 $105/month. Sound good? Let me know guys, advice welcome, just bear in mind I have only seen it in a book.

try talking him down unless its really low mileage(like under 40k?). if it is a hardtop then it will have a black roof. automatic isn't necessarily bad, ive got one and it's plenty of fun to get in trouble.
i got a near perfect condition(mechanically fine, mostly small paint imperfections and a small rip in the seat) automatic 1994 Z28 hardtop for $2200 with 190k miles on it. runs awesome. look harder.

This is the cheapest Lt-1 within 200 miles of me. And it doesn't sound that bad, considering I would be planning on getting a cam, exhaust and whatnot anyways a new head gasket wouldn't be over the top.

dont get the green one, its fucked up. believe me you dont want a camaro that has mysterious problems. my car has 153K on it and it doesn't do any crazy shit like that, and that one only has 120. dont get the green one.
that red one is pretty moderately priced, probably still could talk them down.

It may not have T-tops because the early fourth gens had black roofs from the window sill up. However i would say the chances are high its a T-top. i also agree to go with the red one over the green one, and to talk down the price.

So better to pay around $5-7,000 for less headaches later on you're saying?

yes. on a camaro specific forum(PM me if you'd like the address) ive read that many people have high mileage engines. one guy is pushing 260,000 miles. as long as you take care of it(and the previous owners!), it will take care of you... just not necessarily your wallet when you're at the pump, you'll learn quickly that accellerating like a bat out of hell will like cut your gas mileage in half LOL.

It can get that high of mileage, but after 100,000 there will be some trouble....its enevitable.

Yeah, I expect that. My dad holds firmly to the beleif that US made cars/engines are only built to last around 150,000 miles.

my IROC is running 150,000 miles on it, and there aint a darn thing wrong with it that isnt directly related to neglect and poor treatment from the prior owner. still has great compression, gets great gas mileage, and drives fine. Only failure was the tranny that i was gonna rebuild anyway. and the engine needs a timing chain replacement. Cars will last forever if you take care of em.

Red one looks good and it appears to have a T-Roof too. The one picture shows a split in the window seal. Interior looks great so I would test drive it and talk him down a bit.

here's a question, I'm looking into buying a Camaro myself and I was wondering, considering a dealership has inspected it thoroughly before selling it as used, would I be able to avoid buying a car that has been neglected and won't end up running as many miles as it could?

Gonna be hard buying from a dealership.
When buying from a private owner, you can normally get an idea of how the car might have been treated. From a dealer, you don't get to meet the previous owner.

Why is this '97 so cheap? Because of miles?

funny story(actually my mom's):
when she was in highschool she dated a guy with a firebird. he was working on the engine and ended up dropping something down in the oil pan or whatever. well it ended up cracking the block. a month or so later she had broken up with him and at the car dealership she was looking for a car to replace the beater she had been driving. the dealer ended up showing her the firebird. she told them the block was cracked and the guy looked at her puzzled as to how she knew this.

Cheap? Man, you must have money saved up or something. A 97 Z28 with 120K miles for $7000. That's about average from what I've seen. If you've got the money and like it, then go check it out. It looks good to me, just take it for a test drive and see how she feels. BTW, that's funny as hell how they labeled it an "IROCZ." Obviously they don't know crap about camaro's. I wouldn't be suprised if you could talk them down $1000.

guess ill be the ass clown...for a few more grand u can have a ls1 car, i wouldnt pay that much for a lt1 car unless the condition was so great i couldnt refuse, even though i like the lt1 looks better than a ls1 camaro i think thats a bit much for a lt1 camaro, and on that note your knocking on 100,000 miles...bring on the oil leaks if its not doing it already. u may wanna drive it for a bit. extended test drive

The main reason I'm going for the LT1s is like you said, the looks and the age. I would rather have an LS1, sure. But as it turns out, the LT1 is probably for me. Besides, I have liked the LT1 body style for as long as I can remember.
