Stereo Receiver and Compass Display

Recently I purchased a 2000 Eclipse that had already had the original stereo receiver removed and a JVC receiver installled in its place. Apparently as a result, the 4-disc CD player isn't working (supposedly it was never hooked up) and all the modes on the clock/compass center display don't work either. I push the "mode" button and nothing happens. All there is is the time of day, that's it.

Short of taking it into a dealer (*shudder*), is there a way to fix the connections so that the compass and/or the CD changer might work?

if im not mistaken, the stock cd changer works with the stock HU, and once you change the HU, then the stock changer is gone. i could be wrong on that though.

are you sure that you have a compass? not all eclipses come with the compass. once you change the HU, the display will only show the time. if you have a compass, then it should be able to switch to the compass.

My Eclipse is fully loaded with every available feature (including all leather interior, all power options, the 4-cd changer, rear-window washer and wiper, sun/moon roof, etc.). Would seem strange for it to have every other option yet not have the compass/thermometer HU mode. Is there any way to tell whether it is supposed to, or not?

Also, the HU does have the "Mode" button, which is used specifically to change between the clock and all other available "modes," including the compass, the thermometer, and the sound system options. Yet when the mode button is pushed... nothing happens... at all. Obviously, if there's a mode button, some other "modes" ought to exist. Right? And at the very least, the thermometer HU mode ought to exist given that the car does appear to possess at least this option.

One indicator re: the apparent existence of an interior thermometer: out here in AZ it is now regularly over 100 degrees. If I decide to drive during the heat of the day, when I turn on the A/C it apparently senses the greater temps and switches automatically to interior air after a few seconds (the button to the right of the fan [a/c switch] knob lights up automatically). The only explanation I can find for this is that it senses how hot it is inside and is attempting to cool down the interior faster that way. While at first puzzling (I never pressed the button!), after learning of the existence in some models of an interior thermometer, it made sense why the car was automatically switching to internal air when hot. Yet the HU does not permit me to go to thermometer mode, either, despite obviously possessing a thermometer.

Guess I'll have to take it in to a dealer to see if any of these disconnected modes can be re-connected.

i have the mode button, but its only used on mine to switch between the time and duration of the track playing with the stock HU

i have the mode button also but i dont have the compass.
