I was convinced it was the relay, but after buying a new one and trying it the fan still wouldnt spin. Using my head, I pushed the fan and it began to spin. So, the fan only begins to spin when given a push, and does not start to spin on its own. The old relay still works.
The car constantly overheats when stopped or in slow traffic. Even with the fan spinning, the engine does not cool much. I am unsure, but the fan doesnt seem to spin very fast.
A friend has suggested it might be a temperature guage for the fan, or binding in the bearings of the fan.
Any thoughts?

If the fan needs a push to get going, its junk.If it seems like it isnt spinning fast enough,it probably isn't and that is another sign of a defective fan
