I have a 1994 k1500 with the 4.3. The truck has 194,000 miles on it. In the morning, or whenever I start the truck, it is hard to keep running. It wont stay running long unless you give it a little gas. After that, it stalls when you put it into gear. The tranny catches and the truck dies. I have found out that if I give it a slight amount of gas, she'll usually stay running. But then, she runs and accelerates like crap for the next few minutes. This gets very annoying because cars run up on me cause I cant get her to 45. I had the timing reset on her because I thought it might be the culprit. Yes, we did disconnect the timing advance wire in the shop. I also had a mechanic check out the fuel filter since it was stuck. He told me not the change it because the pressure behind it was normal. Since then I have replaced IAC, TPS, plugs (ACdelco) wires, cap, rotor, coolant temp sensor, thermostat. One thing i did notice is that somebody drilled out a rivot on the throttle body, and started adjusting the idle. I thought this was weird since the idle should be adjusted by the IAC. I just need this truck to run better again, since she is only gettin 14mpg with all of her problems. Also, the cat has been cut out. Thanks in advance for all of you help

On my 90 K1500 5.7L when I had a rough idle (did not stall but wanted to), it was the ignition pick up coil (inside the dist). You need to pull the dist to replace it.
At idle with a timing light on it, I could see that it was missing. Cap and rotor, wire, plugs were new and the dist shaft did not seem loose (you should also check for that). I was very happy with the results of replacing the ignition pick up coil.

My haynes manual offers this....
ENGINE STALLS
1-Idle speed incorrect
2-fuel filter clogged
3-damaged/wet dist cap/wires
4-emissions system components faulty
5-faulty/incorrect gap sparkplugs. plug wires
6-vacuum leak@throttle body/intake manifold/vacuum hoses
HESITATION/STUMBLE DURING ACCELERATION
1-Timing
2-Ingnition system not operating properly
3-dirty/clogged fuel injectors
4-low fuel pressure
also check compression(worn rings) or excessive play in distributor shaft.

Timing was reset last year, fuel pressure is fine, plugs cap and wires about 7 months old. I'm gonna change em since they're under warranty at autozone. after that i'll try a tps sensor.
