Help! The dog ate my dashboard!

Here's a fun one:
My wife has a 2001 GLX with black interior. Last weekend her crazy dog went nuts and took a bunch of bites out of the dashboard immediately in front of the steering wheel (the edge of the arch over the instruments). He chewed through the vinyl covering and took a few bites out of the dense foam.
It looks like this is all one large peice which stretches from the driver's side A-pillar to the passenger side A-pillar.
Question:
1. Will this whole piece have to be replaced?
2. If so, where can I find it? How hard is it to install? How much would the part cost?
3. How much would it cost for a dealer to fix?
4. Does the whole dash need to be replaced, or is there some other type of fix?
Any comments/suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
