"How to" for Torsion bars

Has anyone seen, or does anyone knows any websites that show the proper way to crank torsion bars. I read somewhere that part of this involves taking all weight off the front suspension and doing something with the upper control arms. Also do you have to buy a torsion bar key?

On my 1996 2 dr 4x4 there 2 bolts at the end of the torsion bars near the middle of the vehicle. I had it on a fairly level cement floor and measured from the center of the front rim to bottom lip of front fender. 3 equal turns on each bolt raised the fender 1 " higher. I did this because I have a plow on it and it was sagging the front some. The truck is nice and level now. Some suggest a wheel alignment after adjusting due to camber changing but I did not and the camber looks ine and ride is just as good as before.

I've looked for a similar topic before and have never really found anything yet. There's alot of stuff on it if you google it, but it always pertains to different vehicles (though the principle is the same), but I would like to see something done for Blazers in particular.

You just lift the front of the vehicle off of the ground and back the bolts out to lower the suspension.

do you think cranking the bars in can get the truck as high as 3" in the front?

You mean to lift it up 3 inches higher than stock?

If so, not a chance.

Besides, cranking them all the way up will put a lot of stress on the front and you'll start blowing through ball joints.
