I'm askin this for one of my friends thats not very computer literate. He has 2 mtx thunder4500 12's and needs a good amp to power them. A guy at a local audio stores is tryin to talk him into goin with a cadence z1000 for $300(said it would be 350 but he'll knock the price down for him) but i told him not to go with that cuz of the wallet rapeing audio store guys that don't know what they're talkin about. SO neway what u guys think about an amp for these subs, doesn't wanna spend any more than 250 if possible. Thanks

are they dual 4ohm or sinlge?
either way i just picked up a Hifonics BX1205D for $222 off of ebay. 1200w@1ohm and 900w@2ohm, so either way you will have tons of overhead for thoes woofers. there are also amps with less power that are cheaper but i dont feel like searching for prices.

1200 X 1@ 4ohms
600 X 2 @ 2ohms
300 X 2 @ 4 ohms
I can provide pics and referances if needed...

i got my amp from that ebay seller. that same amp actually. i wouldnt look to much into that warranty. im sure they have one but im wondering if they would do whatever they could to get around holding that warranty up.

fryman.. have you hooked the amp up to anything yet? i want to know how they perform but im too poor to buy a sub for myself.

What ^ erebody..... Im new to car audio n everything but Im wantin to know a good amp that'll power a infinity 12" 1230w reference series sub, 2 10" dual xinc subs (150w rms), and a pioneer head unit. Price is not really an option as long as I get what I pay for. ($150 - $450)

Thanks in advance

Aslo: R dual xinc subs good, because I've heard really good things about them?

for that infinity you need about 300W if im not mistaken. dont push that sub because it will blow. as for those duals, no they are not that great. but they will give you some bass just dont push them. the amp doesnt power your head unit, btw. i used to have that infinity sub and it is a nice sub, very tight bass.

all this stuff about infinities blowing if you push them, you know what it took to finally kill my old kappa perfects? 140V coming out of a gas generator for ~12 seconds, and if you take into account just how much power that actually is, that's decently impressive. The suspension is loose as hell though...

Dang, at 20A (i assume 20 amps, thats what most houses are arent they?) thats 2800watts... Wow

i do agree that infinity's are well made. the highest quality i have seen next to alpine. i put 550W RMS into it for about 2 months and it blew. not surprising though its way over the RMS of the sub. its a good sub.

Yea Jason's IKP's weren't too shabby at all. And damn did those things get low in that 28hz box.

What's the coil conifg on your friend's subs?

home power is 120V @ 60 Hz. If you plug a 4ohn speaker into the outlet, it will draw 120^2/4 watts = 3600 watts RMS at 60 Hz. That's a LOT of power, if you don't blow the fuse

no tripped circuits....

I wouldn't call them high quality or boast them too high, but they are great beginner subs IMO.
