Damn, those things are bad ass. I never knew they made 240sx carbon doors. Where did you see them at?

That is a good point, but even after doing as much weight saving as you can, the 240 is still a heavy bitch. I think this would be a good way to shave of a few more pounds.
I used to laugh at all the ricer kids who would take out all the stuff in their car, but you have to with the 240!! My friend has a 2005 Civic, and with everything in it, plus me and him, it still weighs about 1000 lbs lighter than my car with just me in it! but yes, it is very rice. You could paint it though, and then only you would know! :grinno:

ok that was retarted. first of all people that can afford this stuff arent your run of the mill ricers that buy a rusty rms13 and cut the springs and spraypaint the stock rims black. they will never even dream of having more than a cf hood, much less a hatch, doors, or fenders.

so

if you do have the money what the fuck is wrong with going all out on it? people that are at this stage have most likely done everything else except maybe lexan windows. bumper supports gone, interior gone, no spare tire, sometimes smaller battery although who really cares, mostly they are going to have light 15 or 16 inch wheels, no stereo system, blah blah. so yeah after all that if they want to spend money they are going to buy cf doors. and probably paint over it. so its not rice in my opinion then. if its the first fucking thing you buy for your car yeah thats kinda dumb but i dont see anyone doing that.

or are you just arguing that saving weight is not worth the money? because i kind of agree with that but im broke.

edit: talking to sr20det

carbon fiber is kind of ricey in its applications these days

it belongs in F1 race cars, thats a good use...

in a street driven 240sx? come on your just ricing it out looking for a modified look like your some fast n furious star. If you were that serious about saving weight you could do a lot of stuff people don't do that wouldn't cost you a tenth of that and get better, safer results....

Man bullshit. There's nothing "ricey" about carbon fiber because it actually does something to help performance, not light up a car like x-mas tree, put a 50lbs wing that your car can't even go fast enough for it to functional. Its like saying an all carbon-fiber car is rice.
I'm sorry man, but if I saw a 240 with CF hood, hatch, and doors, he's gonna be one fast "ricer". I think ricers would psend their money on other stuff besides CF, been then again who gives a flying fuck?! they're ricers, let them disgrace themselves, shit...

240SXSlideStar
06-08-2005, 03:12 PM
The only ricey CF is when guy's paint there hood black so that from far away it looks like CF.

Also, SR20DETpower is just pissed off cause they don't make CF doors for Fleetwoods.

Are you serious? When was the last time you heard someone complain about the 240 being heavy?

My friend has a 2005 Civic, and with everything in it, plus me and him, it still weighs about 1000 lbs lighter than my car with just me in it!

Are you sure that it is a 240 that you own? Or did someone just put a 240sx emblem on the back of an Impala and you bought it?

Yeah, I'm an idiot. :p LOL! Sorry. I was looking at the GVWR. Still, I have never heard anyone call the 240SX lite either... And in my opinion, the doors would save you alot of weight up front, where it needs to shed some pounds.

lol, and the 240 is not heavy at all. Much lighter than many other cars. No way is a civic 1000!lbs lighter than a 240sx, i smell bullshit. ANd i cannot figure out what is wrong with sr20detpower, its like he comes on here to just bitch about us. If were so bad, leave asshole...

XeVeNskyLiNE
06-08-2005, 10:54 PM
Um, i could've sworn I hear a good number of people describing the 240 as being light, I guessed around 2800, which means the civic is 1800?! no way. maybe those old CRX's are around that. I remember me and some of my other friend's picked up the the back of a CRX and spun it sideways so he was blocked in with a car on his front and car on his back. It only took 3 people to pick it up, lol. I don't understand that door seal gross weight shit. On mine it says my GRW is fuckin 3600 sumthin. My damn car ways 2750, go figure

RiotGearOnline
06-08-2005, 11:20 PM
My friend's civic is a two door, and I think that it's a unibody, and it weighs in at about 2,000 maybe 2,200, but that was with us in it if I remember right.

xcusememisswyn
06-08-2005, 11:22 PM
a 2005 civic, in its lightest trim has a curb weight of 2449, a S13 hatch's curb weight is 2730, which is heavier, but not near 1000 lbs. now if your friend floats and "everything in it" somehow makes it lighter, i still think u would have trouble being lighter by 500 lbs, let alone 1000. Assuming ur friend weighs about 180 lbs and all the "stuff" ur talkin about weighs a measly 20 lbs, his civic is less then 100 lbs lighter, FWD, probably SOHC and not VTEC.

<seems like every post i read from you comes out ur a**>

my friends 2dr hatch is 2200 without any fluids in it. unless your friends car is stripped, meaning nothing but the driver seat, that is lies and horse caca!

well, maybe you are right, I think we were going off the messed up curb weight on the door, the one that says 3376 or whatever, my bad. And no, not every post is out my a** (I'll star it like you did so your mom doesn't ground you *WINK* ;) )

okay... so you didnt hurt my feelings... mommy told me i could say ass if i wanted. lol my numbers came from www.auto.consumerguide.com and they tend to match any other numbers i have seen. regardless the 400 lbs had to dissappear somewhere and in the last ten minutes ive found two of ur posts to be bullshit (she doesnt like me to say that one, but i do wat i want). Theres no defending what you said, check the numbers if u want

Thats cool. We weighed em las summer, and my friend is on the heavy side, though not 400lbs!! LOL I am going to go weight mine right now, just to see what I am at. I just finished removing most of the crap from the back seat. Should be interesting...

We have a weigh station up this country road. I just got back from there, I had to drive up there to see what this thing weighs. It may not be right, but it said my car, with nothing in it but 3/4 tank of gas, weighs 2,540. Now, that is with the whole rear stripped out. With me and a passenger, it is about 2,900, and with all that crap that WAS in the back last summer, and two people, it weighs in at 3,000. My friends car, with nobody in it and no other stuff in it was just under 2,000, I think it was like 1,980. That is what the scale said, so who knows. It was probably wrong, that does sound low, and the scale is weird.

well as long as it's not steel parts with CF wrapped around it to... "look" like carbon fiber parts... it's not too rice. It cracks me up seeing steel shift knobs with CF looking wrapping paper around it... lolz.

Those types of scales are usually not too acurate. You needs to use a corner weighter. It's like four square blocks that go under each tire. It gives you the answer to any weight question you have. My buddy has one. A fully stripped CRX with a b16 and a roll cage was almost 2100lbs. A 1992 civic hatch, fully stripped with a zc motor was 2019lbs. I have a four door 93 civic fully stripped with a b18 and im right around 2200lbs. I haven't weighed my 240 yet, but I will. It's a 1991 240sx se coupe with everything stock and full interior.I let you guys know what I get.

Yeah, I have see those, but I don't know anyone who has one. This was the only thing I could come up with. I am interested in what you get on the corner scale!!

what the fuck is wrong with most of you people? can't we have a civilized discussion?

cf is NOT ricey. actually, quite the opposite. the people who do cf are more concerned about going fast than looks. cf doors are a GREAT weight saving because a hell of a lot of weight is in the door................... but that doesn't mean you should do it in a street car. i was SERIOUSLY going to do everything cf for weight, but the car will lose all of its structural support if you do cf in the wrong areas (roof, doors, etc.).

if you still wanted to do it, i found cf doors from someplace for $900/pc, but forgot where it was.

btw, my car weighs a tad under 2450 lbs (with full frontal interior!) :grinyes: don't give me shit about how cf is ricey. it's the reason my car is faster than yours.
