OK heres the story..sorry if its tooo long!
Recently my car hit 60,000 miles so I took it to my usual shop. Now this shop has done everything for me and has even given me a break with prices and helped me out alot. I have also made a friend ship and became on a first name basis with these guys. they usually do a good job but not this time. I took the car in for routine matience which is timing belts replaced, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil change system flush, and a quick check to see if anything else needed fixing. well everything was fixed and I went to pick up the car, I pay for it and while driving home I noticed my car starting to smoke. so I pull over and check it out, I find that Iam leaking oil and its leaking bad, i also notice that the oil pressure switch is not conected and that is wear the oil is leaking from. so I call the shop and they come and tow it for free they put it on a lift and supposedly fix it. so i attempt to drive it home a gain i get to my friends house and the oil leak is worse then before. so they tow it again. they suposedly fix it again so i drive it home and when i get home the oil is still leaking so they tow it again and suposedly fixed it. drive the car home and the oil is still leaking so i decide to check out the problem my self. it turns out that the brass bolt they were using broke and they left the tthey never replaced it or removed the thread.
so my question is what would u guys do? would u still continue to goto this shop or is it time for me to find a new one? iam really agrevated with them right now.

Call em up and point out the problem, that way they can do their job right.

Yes... have them take another stab at it... for free of course.... point out the problem... if that doesn't work... do it yourself... I deffinately wouldn't take it back there after your oil leakage problem is fixed...
DAMN... Why is it soooo hard to find any shops that can do anything right on a damn DSM? Since I have been a DSM'r I have been very glad to have the knowledge of some of you to help out... that and to know how to turn a wrench myself...
.......Good luck eclipsewhipping........

Its nice to have a shop that you are on friendly terms with, as long as it doesnt mean that they think they will be able to get away with taking advantage of you. Some mechanics are better at being nice to poeple than fixing cars ;) So if you trust these guys, I would try to make it work with them. You'll both feel better about it when its all fixed.
I find it best to not let the experienced DSMer in me take over and just drop bo's on these guys. I just explain that these cars are very peculiar, tough to work on, etc. It relieves any anxiety they may have about you thinking they don't know what they are doing. And they probably are very good mechanics, on regular cars. If I know what the problem is, I point it out in a nice diplomatic way, offer some suggestions if I have any, but without telling them how to do thier job. They get to learn something perhaps, and save a little face, and you get your car running and keep that friendly relationship with the shop you have grown to trust over time. Works out for everyone.
An example. Many years and many motors ago, I have my favorite local shop do an oil change on the 2g. PReviously they had done tons of work on my rx7. As we now know as a common problem, the filter stud on that POS oil cooler came loose, and a few days later the gasket behind it blew out at 7k rpm and crankwalked that motor. All my friends said to make them replace the motor. Instead I just fixed it myself, and waited for my next oil change. I took it to them again, and while bullshitting with the owner, brought up this common problem with the DSMs, recomended he have the guys torque that stud to 25 ft lbs before installing the new filter, to avoid legal issues in the future if it happens again (to a more "difficult" customer). He knew I was tryign to help his business, and that I had taken on the cost of repairing thier screwup myself, without me having to say so. From them on, I have recieved unbelievable service, all kinds of free or extremely cheap exhaust work, etc. I have also sent thousands of dollars of business his way. We both make out fine. :)
I'm in a mood for long winded posts today I guess. But the moral of the story is there is more to life than money, and a little car trouble is not the end of the world. Make the most of it, and drive it on. ;)
