A new idea.

I just thought of a new idea that would not require changing the 25 year law but would allow you to get any JDM car of your choice(to some extent). Here is the new idea, basically any vehicle 25 yrs or older is exempt from any EPA/DOT restrictions, but less is required of a vehicle 15 years or older. Any vehicle 15 or older would still be required to meet emission standards with mods like CATs etc and other modifications to the windows, mirrors, guages (kph/mph), and lights, that can be done by any RI but no structural modifications to strenghthen the frame and chassis are required. That would eliminate crash testing. Basically the law would work like this. Any vehicle less than 15 requires the whole 9 yards, any vehicle 15 to 25 only require the mods mentioned above that can be performed by any RI, and any vehicle 25 years or older is completely exempt from any regulations. That would make it alot easier. What do you think? Whats your opinion? If we could get this through to the NHTSA it would be great because it would still enforce their saftey laws and it would help the RI business. Since this would be passing a new law instead of trying to lift or change an old law this would be more possible.

Sorry for being so defensive. I know the NHTSA will not change a rule. No way in hell would that happen. I was just saying that suggesting a new law would probaly grab their ear versus bitching and complaining about an old law. A nismo. If that skyline is really yours. Congrats, Im glad you got one. I would have told you sooner but wasnt sure.

on a side note, the nhsta IS re-evaluating the r32's legality of importation. so maybe things will change, at least with the line anyways.

Yeah but what I wonder is is if this is only for this car or if it will open the gates for other cars. Will this only benefit the R32 or will they make things easier for other late 80s early 90s JDM cars? And to what you said earlier. Not long ago we use to have a problem with people coming to the forum flaming and starting crap. And we still do sometimes too. At first I thought you were one of them. Im not sure but when Motorex was legalizing skylines they could only legalize the 90-94 R32s. For some reason they could not legalize the 89. So I think someone is trying to petition the 89 R32.

there was something about the 89 r32's that kept them from being legalized. and motorex legalized 90-03 skylines until the OBDII issues were found.

So - when is this going to be good for us? is this going to be another motorex bs scam crap thing again? or are they just going to be able to import them? do they have to alter the cars to make them legit for or street or are they going to JUST import them and sell them that way? *is confused*....if i don't have to get a car through my company then i really will consider them....
