Another HUB question

maybe LMP can answer this....
My hubs engage just fine, but after I switch back to 2WD, I will hear a metalic chicking, and a ca-chunk. I'm thinking the hubs are partially engaged, and I hear/feel them slipping.
I'm not in a position to replace the vacumn hubs at this point, and don't really require 4WD at this point. So, is there a way to disengage the hubs fully, and leave them OFF for the time being?

PRobably the vacuum valve leaks and applies partial vacuum to hubs which causes your problem. My first attempt would be to disconnect the "vacuum ton hubs" hose from the solenoid. If all noise disappears, then it means it solved your problem.
Otherwise, there might be some mechanical failure in the hubs themselves, but try the vacuum hose first.
