cant start 93 escort

daughter ran 93 escort out of gas. replaced fuel filter.

vehicle won't run now. she said vehicle sputtered twice and ran out of gas. after filling gas tank, tried to start, and engine kept turning over but would not run. i then changed fuel filter, still nothing. checked fuel cut off switch, still nothing. used ether, still nothing. any ideas? someone said maybe a fuel module?

when the key is turned on can you hear the electric fuel pump turn on to pressurize the lines?

It may just be a matter of working the fuel back up from the tank to the engine. Having run it dry there is air in the lines that will have to be worked out.

How did you use the ether? If you definitely got ether into the intake and it didn't run, it sounds like your problem is spark.
