When driving my '99 taurus in city driving the speedometer does not want to register and the car does not want to shift, after the car has sat turned off it is fine , could this be attributed to the speed sensor?? if anyone has any info wld greatly appriciate it, thanks

Yes, this is absolute textbook VSS failure. I would recommend replacement with an original part from your Ford dealer; it won't be horrifically expensive, maybe $40 or so.

I have a 95 that shifts fine but at around 65 mph the speedometer starts bouncing around. Is this VSS or could it be a problem in the cluster?

any Ideas yet guys. The Vss on this thing is not easy to reach, and I'm hoping it is the cluster.
