air shocks

does anyone know what the advantages are of having gas shocks? are they supposed to be really stiff? I have gas adjust shocks all around and I dont know if they're good. Any help?

well i never found out what was so good about the airshocks, so i replaced them with some kyb shocks that i had on a different bug. thanx anyways.
