I have to take off the battery and washer fluid tank right? well i have a problem i cant get the washer fluid tank cause the brake fluid beaker is in the way and i dont want to have to drain the brake fluid system how do i get it off? also the fuel filter is right behind the window washer fluid tank right?

first take out the battery and then the plate that it sits on (both the plastic and metal one). unbolt the brake fluid resirvor and also the washer fluid tank. you should be able to wiggle out the washer fluid tank without removing the hoses to the brake fluid resirvor. there's also a plug for the washer fluid pump that needs to be unplugged and you'll need to disconnect the fluid hose from the splitter on the hood. (keep the end of the hose above the outlet on the tank or you'll lose all your washer fluid onto the floor while replacing the filter). you should now be able to see the fuel filter. i would suggest un-screwing both connecting lines before unbolting the filter bracket. but let me warn you, you might want to set aside a good hour or two if this is your first fuel filter on your car. it's a bitch.

I just did the FF in mine. I'm not sure the location of your's I think it's in the rear on teh RS. They aren't bad once you find out how it comes out.. It took me about 45 mins to do mine.. But mines in the engine compartment.

no it's in the engine bay, behind the battery/washer fluid resirvor.

It would be the same spot. RS and GS's both have 420a's.

urban what I should have pointed out was that I don't have a 420a in my gs because it's a spyder.. I think that some of the eclipses not sure which years or models have the fuel filter in the rear. I know with the turbo's and 4g64 it's in the the front. I wasn't sure about the other two.

In any case to get mine out I pulled the battery. Released the top fuel line on it and let it bleed into a pan below the car. Prolly not the best way if you can find a way to get the fuel out otherwise let me know (depressurize the line somewhere?). If you take off the line going to the fuel rail you can just prop it up and it will stop leaking (yay for gravity).. The bottom one comes off a bit harder. I used two wrenched and squeezed to get it to turn. it too will let all the fuel that was in the filter out. Then it's two bolts to take off my firewall.

After that place the new filter in the bracket reconnect to the firewall, reconnect lines and replace the battery. i did this all without ever going under the car except for when i dropped my wrenches through. Some people suggest going from both sides so the bottom bolt is easier i'm not sure which is best... It didn't seem too difficult from the top.

no problem I didn't mean to make it sound harsh if thats how I cam across. I took it for a fact that no one saw my sig and just saw gs. I was just pointing that out.
