Car running but not moving????

Okay well i just got finished my swap today and got the car running. After letting it run for about 15 minutes i was going to go move it to the garage.

When i got in the car to try to move it, it wouldn't move. When you put it in gear and let go of the clutch you can hear a type of grindish type sound like something is rubbing on something in the tranny. Even after you take your foot of the clutch the car wont move, but the speedo. is reading the speed as if it was moving.

We ended up having to push the car to the garage, while doing that we thought we would try and put it in gear and try to push. But it was just as easy as if it wasnt in gear at all. something isnt engaging i dont know...

I am clueless as to what it is. I hope all that made sense it is kind of hard to explain.

If your speedo is going up when it's in gear it sounds like you didn't get your axles put in right or something. Cause the speedo cable is plugged in at the differenctial, so your differential is spinning, but not your axles. You may have one axle that didn't get in all the way.

sounds to me like an axle isnt snapped in all the way. theres a snap locking ring that holds it into the differential, and on an open diff if you dont have them both in, its going to send power to the disconnected side.

edit: there is nothing to bleed on your car, you have a cable clutch. make sure your cable is adjusted properly though.

if its not the axel, i can almost gaurantee its the differential!
even if the diffs blown, the speedo will still go up

i have fun with that when i wait for the tow truck, sit with the e-brake on, and rip thru the gears, u can reach 200 in a matter of seconds hahaha

if the center of the diff is blown, you will need to get a new diff at the very least. and thats only if the busted pieces didnt get into the rest of the transmission. if thats the case, find another trans
