Are AWD not RWD. RWD's wont fit The AWD tranny looks like an Auto tranny except its alot larger and has the shaft for the rear behind the engine

is it possible to save/ use that tranny in a conversion to awd (obviously for 400+ whp situations)

You could convert to an AWD but just thinking about the cost It wouldnt be worth it.
You might as well import a car for the price that it would cost.

Yeah, besides the extemsive structural body work, relocating the gas tank, finding a RWD transaxle that has the same width measurements, re-routing the exhaust maybe, and finding a rear suspension to name a few.

.... the stuff you would need to find create or fabricate would be ridiculously expensive and hard to find. Not to mention time consuming I hope u were just pondering this idea and keeping it a thought. I hope you dont intend on taking this further than the thought it is

I'll get some pics in the next couple days when I get some time, and then maybe a writeup a little later. I used the engine out of the Avenir - the silver topped DET. It has a factory front-mount intercooler, which actually ended up causing a couple problems, but we figured them out.
The engine is in great shape - it only had like 15,000 miles on it. The turbo also is almost like brand new. I may even be selling this turbo, manifold, and injectors in the coming months though, as I want to go to a bigger turbo soon. We'll see how that goes, but the power in this engine right now is amazing as it is. I'm a happy man.

Ya, these guys are right about the tranny - you can't use the AWD tranny on our FWD cars. Well I shouldn't say can't, anything is possible if you have enough money. But it would be VERY expensive.
The engine will bolt the the existing tranny in the car. I replaced my tranny with an LSD tranny, though, while doing the swap.

IMO, converting to AWD is not THAT hard. It is hard, but quite possible. You see, there are AWD Primeras in the UK, so basically parts from that can be used (the floor, rear suspension, transmission and stuff). So if you have money - go for it!

I have a JDM AWD Primera. Best way to do the AWD conversion in U.S. would be to import a rear clip from a T4 (for donor parts) and a T4 g/box which is designated RS5F32A FM43.
The T4 has a tunnel in the fuel tank for the rear d/shaft and a hump in the trunk for the diff. That's why it would be easier to get the rear end of a T4 imported and transfer the floorpan, fuel tank etc.
Check my sig for T4 info and Pics of the undercarriage.
